The loss of the mighty Mangayon should be a serious national concern. And I don't understand why everyone seems so calm about it. Mura'g way pakialam ang tanan, pero'g binuang diri sa socmed kusog kaayo mu-share. Kanang isa ka-click ninyo sa share button about its death for everyone to be aware of its importance and existence is a huge help to connect to many people on your list of friends and friends of your friends.
Please protect this national gem, mintras kaya pa nato. They exist for a huge purpose, and we should not allow the same abominable death for our mighty Philippine Eagle to happen again!

UY SUMMER FROLIC NA BAY! PAHIMANGNO LANG:
1. ILABAY SA TAMA NGA LABAYANAN ANG MGA BASURA. Make sure to dispose all trash in designated bins or take it with you when you leave. Litter can harm wildlife, pollute water, and spoil the beauty of the beach. Litter includes plastics, tin cans, and cigarette butts.
2. KUNG MAHIMO, LIKAYI ANG PAGPALIT O PAGGAMIT UG SINGLE-USE PLASTICS. Avoid using plastic straws, cups, and utensils that can end up in the ocean and harm marine life.
3. HATAGI'G RESPETO ANG KINAIYAHAN. Do not disturb wildlife, like sea turtles (where Dahican is known for), or their habitats. Keep a safe distance, and avoid touching or feeding them.
DUGANG PA, the following are not every party goers control but of the management, unta mapatuman...
1. Fireworks can be harmful to wildlife and disturb the natural environment. Unta walay fireworks...
2. Be mindful of noise: Loud music and noise can disturb wildlife, like sea turtles. Keep noise levels to a reasonable level, if possible.
Remember, it's important to respect and protect the natural environment while enjoying the beach. By following these reminders, you can help preserve the beauty of the beach for future generations to enjoy.
Unta sa pagpalambo sa turismo, sabayan sad nato'g pagrespeto ug pagpangga sa kinaiyahan.
SALAMAT!

The Department of Science and Technology - Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST FPRDI), in collaboration with the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Davao Oriental, conducted the soap making technology training to selected participants in Davao Oriental last March 17, 2022 at Baywalk Hotel, City of Mati.
The training was participated by the various sectors such as the academe, the government, and a civil society organization. The academe was represented by the Davao Oriental Regional Science High School (DORSHS), Rabat Rocamora Mati Central Elementary School II (RRMCES II), Rabat Rocamora Mati Central SPED School, Tarragona National High School, Paulina Gambong Abayon National High School, Mati School of Arts and Trades (MSAT), and Davao Oriental State University. From the government, the City Agriculture's Office(CAO), City Planning and Development Office(CPDO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office(CENRO), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) joined the training. While the Macambol Lindog People's Organization, Inc. (MLPOI) represented the civil society organizations.
The Bamboo for Wellness Products are developed by DOST-FPRDI through the funding from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) that aim to promote the use of bamboo-based products in combatting COVID-19 in the Philippines.
The team also distributed a total of 200 packs of liquid and bar bamboo-based hand soap to DOPMC, CHO Mati, City of Mati LGU, PLGU Davao Oriental, PENRO and MLPOI last March 16, 2021.

: 6 LGUs to have earthquake resilient structural designs using atlases developed by DOST-PHIVOLCS
Six Local Government Units (LGUs) received its Specific Earthquake Response Atlases from the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) to be used for decision-making in building safer structures and facilities, and for strengthening disaster resiliency of the respective communities.
Each atlas is a compilation of maps that provides information on the characteristics of the subsurface soil and rock layers in the study areas or LGUs and the resulting site response to a specific earthquake ground motion. This can serve as a guide in seismic load design to increase the resiliency of buildings and infrastructures in the event of a large earthquake.
These atlases can be a significant reference for LGUs as well as by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to appropriately design earthquake-resilient government infrastructures, residential houses, and medium-to-high rise buildings in Pangasinan, Tarlac, Metro Iloilo-Guimaras, Cauayan City, Butuan City, and Mati City.
โOur country has learned many lessons during large damaging earthquakes. One is the construction of earthquake-resistant structures. Urban planners should have a wider perspective of the engineering challenges faced by property developers before crafting their comprehensive land-use and development plans,โ said DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peรฑa said during the launching and turnover ceremony held on 22 October 2021.
He said that they approved and funded the proposals of Dr. Rhommel N. Grutas from DOST-PHIVOLCS for the team to come up with the necessary surveys and data collection, analyses and interpretation, and mapping of the final results which can be used by engineers to properly design buildings to withstand the effects of ground shaking due to earthquakes.
โUrban communities are prone to ground shaking hazards due to the rapid development of medium to high rise infrastructures proximal to earthquake generators. Seismic micronization maps are useful in the development of comprehensive land use plans for major cities. These allow government agencies to develop better disaster response programs and (to have) more resilient communities and infrastructures,โ Dr. Grutas said, the project leader of Specific Site Response Atlases.
According to DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services and Officer-in-Charge of DOST-PHIVOLCS Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., these atlases pertain to a detailed compilation of hazard maps depicting the site response and earthquake ground motion levels of the study areas with the goal to increase the seismic resiliency of government structures, residential, and low-to-mid-rise buildings located in the city.
In his message, Pangasinan Governor Amado I. Espino III shared his appreciation and gratitude to DOST-PHIVOLCS and DOST-PCIEERD for developing the atlas intended for the province of Pangasinan as it would greatly help in their mission to make their province responsive and resilient during the occurrence of natural calamities such as earthquake.
The project was funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development, one of the three sectoral councils of the department.
Incidentally, more knowledge products and innovations of DOST-PHIVOLCS will be featured in the upcoming celebration of the 2021 National Science and Technology Week to be held from 22-28 November 2021 through the virtual platform.
