โ€‹
The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has taken cognizance of a post circulating on social media, particularly on the page โ€œDAVAO ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY (Students Confession),โ€ containing serious threats of violence directed at one of its faculty members.
โ€‹
The University strongly and unequivocally condemns any form of threat, intimidation, or violence against its faculty, staff, students, and the entire academic community. Such acts have no place in a learning institution and will not be tolerated.
โ€‹
DOrSU places the highest priority on the safety and security of all members of the University. Appropriate measures are being undertaken in coordination with campus security personnel and relevant law enforcement authorities to ensure the protection of the concerned faculty member and the wider University community. The matter has been referred to the proper authorities for investigation and appropriate legal action.
โ€‹
We remind and encourage our students and other members of the University community to properly raise their concerns through the established mechanisms for addressing grievances and disciplinary actions involving University employees. Please be assured that any formal complaint lodged will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
โ€‹
Finally, we call on all members of the DOrSU community and the public to refrain from spreading, sharing, or amplifying content that promotes violence or hate. Online platforms must be used responsibly. Any individual found to have issued threats or engaged in acts that endanger the safety of others will face the full force of University policies and the law.
โ€‹
The University remains committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and professional growth.

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has set its sights on attaining SUC Level IV status by 2029, as University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce called for tighter alignment of programs, resources, and institutional targets with the Universityโ€™s GROWTH 2029 framework.
โ€‹
Dr. Ponce issued the directive during DOrSUโ€™s Midyear Evaluation for Fiscal Year 2026 on August 17 at the University Board Room, where officials reviewed the Universityโ€™s performance during the first half of the year and identified priorities for the remaining months of 2026.
โ€‹
Calling the period a โ€œnew seasonโ€ for the University, Dr. Ponce said DOrSU has only three years to pursue the next level of institutional development.
โ€‹
โ€œOur target should be SUC Level IV by 2029,โ€ he said. โ€œWe only have three years. We can do this by Godโ€™s grace.โ€
โ€‹
Dr. Ponce commended University personnel for the work already accomplished but said the next phase would require wider participation across offices and academic units.
โ€‹
He encouraged officials to draw on new talents within the University, particularly faculty and staff who recently joined DOrSU, and to give them opportunities to contribute to institutional programs.
โ€‹
โ€œLetโ€™s engage everyone. With more, we will attain more,โ€ Dr. Ponce said.

| Davao Oriental State University congratulates University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce for being named among the Top 10 Presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines with Scopus-indexed publications, based on the 13 August 2026 update of GHF University Excellence.
โ€‹
With seven Scopus-indexed publications to his name, Dr. Ponce joins a select group of SUC presidents whose work in research continues alongside the demands of institutional leadership.
โ€‹
His published studies also reflect the direction DOrSU has been steadily building over the years. Several of these works touch on areas that help define the Universityโ€™s niche as a regenerative futures university, including biodiversity conservation, sustainability, innovation, and institutional development.
โ€‹
For DOrSU, the recognition is especially meaningful as it affirms the place of research in shaping the Universityโ€™s identity and in moving its vision forwardโ€”to become a regenerative futures university in the Asia-Pacific by 2035.
โ€‹
Congratulations, Dr. Ponce! You are an inspiration to the entire DOrSU community.
