Teachers participate in SLAC Orientation on OPLAN KALUSUGAN sa Department of Education Program (OK sa DepEd)

In a proactive step toward promoting the holistic well-being of learners and school personnel, teaching and non teaching personnel of Libudon NHS actively participated in a School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) session on the Orientation on Oplan Kalusugan sa Department of Education (OK sa DepEd).
The orientation was held to strengthen awareness and implementation of DepEd’s flagship health programs in schools, with the aim of creating a healthy, safe, and supportive learning environment. The session was graced by knowledgeable division nurses from the Schools Division of the City of Mati, who served as the resource speakers for the day.
During the session, Fritzie A. Aparra, Nurse II and Division Nutrition-in-Charge, discussed the overview of OK sa DepEd program six major components , which include the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP), National Drug Education Program (NDEP), Medical, Dental, and Nursing Services, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS), Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), and the Mental Health Program. She also emphasized the importance of Basic Food Safety and Sanitation Standards for school canteen management. The second speaker, Tanya Amelia M. Castillones, RN and Nurse II, discussed the Bakuna Eskwela program and the importance of Breastfeeding. The third speaker, Kate B. Gayo-Peña, SHS Nurse II and Division School Mental Health Program Coordinator, presented the Philippine Mental Health Law and emphasized the School Mental Health Program and Psychological First Aid. And the last speaker, Peter Jordan G. Reyes, SHS Nurse II and Learner Rights and Protection Focal Person, talked about Bullying and the prevention and measures to be taken by the school personnel for different cases, as well as the To***co Control Policy and the Preventive Drug Education Program.
Teachers were also given updates on health policies, safety protocols, and best practices to ensure the physical and mental well-being of students.
The school administration extended its gratitude to the division nurses for their support and to the teaching staff for their active participation. With continued professional development and strong collaboration with health partners, the school aims to effectively implement the OK sa DepEd initiatives throughout the school year.
