STOP DENGUE BEFORE IT STARTS!

Matalam High School, together with its students, teachers, staff, and school organizations, is taking a stand against dengue. On February 28, 2025, from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, the school will hold a School-Wide Dengue Prevention Clean-Up Activity to eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds and promote a healthier environment.

This initiative is part of the school’s commitment to Dengue Prevention and Response Measures, which include maintaining cleanliness, eliminating stagnant water, promoting proper waste disposal, and raising awareness on dengue prevention. By working together, the Matalam High School community strengthens its efforts in creating a safer and healthier space for everyone.

𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗔 9003

On November 15, 2024, a significant environmental event took place at Matalam High School, as the Kalinisan Squad, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), YES-O, and classroom Presidents and Vice Presidents united for a day dedicated to environmental action. The event aimed to raise awareness about Republic Act 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and brought together students to take a hands-on approach in protecting the environment. Through their participation in both a Clean-Up Drive and a symposium, students demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The day kicked off with the Clean-Up Drive, where students worked collaboratively to clean and organized the campus. From 6:30 am to 7:10 am, every student played a part in sorting waste, disposing of trash properly, and promoting eco-friendly practices throughout the school grounds. This collective effort not only helped maintain a cleaner environment but also instilled a sense of responsibility among the students, emphasizing the importance of proper waste management and environmental care in their daily lives.

Later, at 9:30 am, a symposium was held at MHS Covered Court, organized in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Cotabato Province. This educational session included presentations by chosen students, such as members of the Kalinisan Squad, SSLG, YES-O, as well as classroom presidents and vice presidents. The symposium focused on the provisions of R.A. 9003, educating attendees on the critical need for sustainable waste management practices to protect the environment for future generations. The event highlighted the power of student leadership and collective action in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all.

JOIN | Clean-Up Drive and Symposium on R.A. 9003

The Kalinisan Squad and Supreme Secondary Learner Government will take the lead in the Clean-Up Drive and Symposium to raise awareness about R.A. 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

R.A. 9003 is a landmark law that aims to protect our environment by promoting proper waste management and reducing pollution.

On November 15, 2024 at 6:30 am to 7:10 am, we are expected to be in our respective area of responsibility for the Clean-Up Drive. At exactly 9:15 am, together with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Cotabato Province, a symposium will be held at MHS Covered Court to be participated by selected students.
