BOLO NHS CELEBRATES ASEAN MONTH: ONE COMMUNITY, ONE IDENTITY, ONE FUTURE

Bolo National High School proudly initiated a school-based celebration of ASEAN Month, bringing together its dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students in a meaningful celebration of the rich cultures, traditions, and shared identity of the ASEAN community.

More than just a celebration, the event reminds us that despite the differences in culture, language, traditions, and history, people are connected by a shared vision of friendship, cooperation, respect, and unity. It provides learners an opportunity to appreciate the diversity of their neighboring countries while developing a deeper understanding of their roles as responsible citizens of the ASEAN community.

Adding color and excitement to the celebration, the Bolo NHS teachers and advisers proudly dressed as natives representing the ASEAN countries they have chosen, showcasing creativity, cultural appreciation, and solidarity with Southeast Asian neighbors.

This meaningful celebration was made possible through the initiative and dedication of Ma’am Remy B. Cabug, SSLG Coordinator and Araling Panlipunan Teacher, who served as the brain behind this celebration. Her passion and commitment to providing learners with meaningful and engaging experiences truly brought the ASEAN celebration to life.

The activity was further strengthened through the unwavering support of Sir Ronan C. Relova, School Principal, together with the entire Bolo NHS teaching force, who wholeheartedly participated and helped make the celebration memorable for everyone.

Furthermore, students and teachers actively participated in the ASEAN Trivia, testing their knowledge about ASEAN history, culture, countries, and traditions. Prizes were given to those who correctly answered the trivia questions!

Indeed, celebrating ASEAN is celebrating diversity, strengthening unity, and building a generation that understands the value of cooperation beyond borders.

Bolo National High School Strengthens Readiness for Implementing Unit Conversion Through Comprehensive Orientation Kickstart

SDO Masbate City personnel conducted an orientation at Bolo National High School on its conversion into an Implementing Unit (IU), equipping school personnel and internal stakeholders with essential knowledge on the financial, budgeting, and cash management responsibilities that come with the new system.

The activity provided participants with a clearer understanding of the policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms necessary to ensure a smooth, transparent, and effective transition to IU status.

Accountant Jose Enrique Fontillas discussed the fundamentals of Financial Management, emphasizing the proper handling, recording, utilization, and reporting of school funds in accordance with existing government accounting and financial policies. He also underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, proper documentation, and adherence to established procedures to ensure that every financial transaction of the school is properly managed and accounted for.

The topic on Budgeting was discussed by Administrative Officer V Mary Grace Nuñez, who explained the processes involved in planning, allocating, and managing financial resources to support the school’s programs, projects, and operational needs. She highlighted the importance of aligning the school’s budget with its priorities and approved plans while ensuring that expenditures are properly programmed, justified, and compliant with applicable budgeting rules and regulations.

Ms. Nery Bautista led the discussion on Cash Orientation, focusing on the proper procedures for the receipt, custody, disbursement, recording, and accountability of cash transactions within the school. Her presentation emphasized the importance of observing prescribed cash-handling procedures, maintaining complete supporting documents, and exercising diligence and accountability in every transaction to safeguard public funds.

After each session, the participants were given an opportunity to raise questions and concerns during a clearing of house, allowing the resource persons to clarify gray areas and address issues related to the actual implementation of the IU system at Bolo National High School. The interactive discussions helped participants gain a more concrete understanding of their respective roles and responsibilities, ensuring that concerns were properly addressed and that the school community would be better prepared for the transition.

Present during the orientation was the school’s PSDS - Alfredo Sese Jr who also expressed his full support and pride to the school’s milestone as IU.

The event served as an important step toward strengthening the school’s capacity to operate as an Implementing Unit, fostering greater financial responsibility, operational readiness, and accountability among its personnel.

The second leg of the orientation series will be facilitated by Administrative, Personnel, Disbursement and Supply section heads.

Project TUKDO Reaches Brgy. Asid, Bringing Learning Beyond the Classroom

Now on its 4th cycle, Project TUKDO extended its educational outreach to Asid Integrated School in Masbate City, providing meaningful and engaging learning experiences for learners from Grades 1 to 9. Through interactive sessions in English, Mathematics, and Science, the project inspired curiosity, strengthened foundational skills, and encouraged a love for learning.

The day commenced with a simple opening program followed by a lively community dance, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and unity among learners, teachers, parents, and community members.

Under TUHAKSA (Turo ng Mabisang Hakbang sa Pagbasa at Pag-unawa), teacher-volunteers facilitated fun and interactive English and Filipino activities such as Snake and Ladder Sight Words, Bingo Sight Words, and the Word Dice Challenge. These games enhanced learners’ reading and comprehension skills while making learning enjoyable.

For TUKHAM (TUKdo para sa agHAM), learners explored exciting Science concepts through hands-on activities, including identifying acids and bases using common kitchen materials, learning the parts of a microscope, and observing various specimens.

Meanwhile, MATUTOK (MAth TUtorial for TUKDO) focused on strengthening mathematical foundations. Teachers guided learners in recognizing and classifying two-dimensional shapes, identifying and arranging numbers, representing numbers using models and manipulatives, and performing addition through number lines and concrete materials.

Parents also actively participated in the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) sessions.

Teacher-volunteers demonstrated practical skills through TUKDOlicious (Cookery Tutorials on Healthy Pambaon and RTE Meals), featuring Tuna Lumpia and Tuna Pasta; Takod-TUKDO (Table Skirting Tutorials); and TUK-Prod (Food Processing), providing participants with valuable livelihood knowledge they can apply at home.

In addition to academic enrichment, the project offered community services through Health TUKDO (Talk & Do), where parents and guardians received blood pressure monitoring and wellness coaching to promote healthier lifestyles.

Adding to the day’s activities, Kaldero ni Ma’am Syrah conducted a feeding program for the learner-participants, ensuring they were nourished while taking part in the learning sessions.

As a special highlight, Sir Ronan C. Relova, the proponent of Project TUKDO, delighted parents through a raffle of food items, while learners enjoyed snacks distributed throughout the program.

The Poject concluded with a community luncheon that strengthened camaraderie among the teachers of Bolo National High School, the faculty of Asid Integrated School, and the residents of Barangay Asid.

The successful implementation of the project once again reflected its commitment to bringing quality education and meaningful community engagement closer to learners.

Project TUKDO extends its sincere appreciation to Hon. Ramil "Aloy" G. Ramirez, Barangay Chairperson, together with the members of the Barangay Council, as well as Sir Ruel T. Frias, School Head of Asid Integrated School, and the faculty members for their invaluable support and partnership in making this initiative a success.

Historic First as Lim-Mercado assumes office as Assistant to the Principal

Bolo National High School proudly celebrates its first Assistant to the School Principal in the person of Ma’am Catherine L. Mercado, during her designation ceremony on July 23, 2026.

Having already been a dedicated member of the Bolo NHS family, Ma’am Catherine’s appointment is a testament to her commitment, competence, and unwavering passion for education. Her new leadership role reflects the trust and confidence placed in her ability to help lead the school toward greater heights.

During the celebration, Sir Alfredo R. Sese, PSDS of District 9, extended his heartfelt congratulations and shared meaningful words of wisdom. He encouraged Ma’am Catherine to embrace every responsibility with integrity, humility, resilience, and a servant’s heart, emphasizing that true leadership is rooted in service, collaboration, and a genuine concern for the welfare of learners and the entire school community.

In the same spirit, Sir Ronan C. Relova, School Principal I, expressed his sincere support and encouragement to Ma’am Catherine. He affirmed his confidence that, through teamwork, mutual respect, and shared dedication, they will work hand in hand in strengthening the programs, initiatives, and accomplishments of Bolo National High School for the benefit of every learner and stakeholder.

Earlier in the day, Schools Division Superintendent Sir Nelson S. Morales Jr. extended his congratulations to Ma’am Mercado and gave insights on becoming an effective Asst. to the Principal.

Assuming the position, Ma’am Catherine is expected to provide valuable support in school leadership and management. Her responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of DepEd programs and policies, coordinating academic and co-curricular activities, supporting teachers in instructional improvement, monitoring school operations, strengthening partnerships with stakeholders, promoting learner welfare, and helping ensure that the school’s vision, mission, and goals are effectively achieved.

Seeing Hope with PAGASA: Clean Water Access and Solar-Powered Building Turnover

A remarkable milestone was achieved at Bolo National High School as it officially hosted the Turnover Ceremony of the Clean Water Access and Solar-Powered Building Installation Project for its learners, made possible through the generosity of ASA International thru PAGASA Philippines Finance Corporation.

This meaningful event was graced by distinguished guests, headed by Sir Michael Albert Rallonza, Chief Business Officer of PAGASA Philippines Finance Corporation; Sir Nelson S. Morales Jr., Schools Division Superintendent of SDO Masbate City; Hon. Olga "Ara" T. Kho, City Mayor of Masbate City, represented by Ma'am Merien Esber, City Information Officer; Sir Gerard Leomel Estoquia, SEPS; Sir Kenneth Lim; Hon. Melchor R. Dela Cruz, Barangay Chairperson of Brgy. Bolo, represented by Hon. Delia Cabug; Mr. Benje M. Banoy, SPTA President; together with the dedicated staff of Bolo National High School under the leadership of Sir Ronan C. Relova, School Principal I, the teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, stakeholders, and its dear students.
