BMC's First Ever Pinning and Lighting Ceremonies comes Alive!

The most awaited event in the journey of Pre-Service Teachers came alive yesterday, December 07, 2025, at Poblacion, Balud Covered Court, as they marked a remarkable day to remember the first-ever Balud Municipal College Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremonies intended for BMC's Interns for Academic Year 2025-2026.

In the bigger context, the pinning and candle lighting ceremony is a traditional rite of passage for students in various fields, especially education and healthcare. It marks the shift from academic theory to real-world practice, signaling the official start of a professional career. In the ceremony, students receive a pin (or another recognition symbol) that shows they are ready to enter the profession. The candle lighting—often paired with a prayer—symbolizes a commitment to uphold the profession’s values and principles. These ceremonies are more than a formality; they are a key step in shaping the professional identity of future teachers (and other) professionals, guiding their transition into practice.

The event was filled with emotions as pre-service teachers hugged, kissed, and expressed their thanks to their parents and guardians who stood with them during the happy and lonely days of their journey.

Dr. Richie C. Velarde, BMC Administrator and Dean-Designate, served as the guest speaker. In his message, Dr. Velarde emphasized proper ethics and moral conduct and reminded student-teachers to do more in their practicum and value lessons and learnings that they will be gathering from their personal teaching experiences in their respective cooperating schools.

BMC personnel present during the activity were Dr. Velarde, BMC Administrator, Engr. Rarie Esparrago, BMC External Affairs Officer, Mrs. Girlie T. Sese, BMC Registrar Officer, Academic Assistants, and BMC Non-Teaching Personnel.

The college is always greatful for all the support exerted by the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Balud under the dynamic leadership of Hon. Municipal Mayor, the Hon. Rodolfo O. Estrella, Jr. together with the amiable Municipal Vice-Mayor, Hon. Atty. Felimon C. Abelita, IIII with the active SB Members who are always back-up of BMC in transforming its Vision, Mission and Goals into reality.

The event ended successfully, painting smiles on the faces of the Student-Teachers and their parents.
