Equality does not mean providing something more to any side. It means understanding the truth that no one should be expected to accept something less just because of their gender.

Women have been fighting the restrictions for generations now and have opened the way for other generations of women. Their experience teaches that rights are not some special privileges provided to certain members of society but the basic necessities for all humans.

It is impossible to say that a country is free when it does not provide equal rights and opportunities for half of its population. And today we celebrate the women who stood before us, the women who stand now and the girls who will take the torch forward.

Freedom is not the lack of chains only. It is the realization that each individual is born dignified, endowed with fundamental rights and with the right to live free from any oppression.

Let remembrance turn into responsibility. Let history serve as a lesson to identify injustice before it gets normalized.

We will not make a better world if we impose that everybody must believe the same. We will only achieve that through the capacity to coexist despite differences.

May this day be more than remembering. May it be a pledge for opting for understanding instead of prejudice, dialogue rather than division, and humanity rather than hatred.

Some lives are remembered not because of how easily they were lived but because they stood for something greater than themselves

Ninoy Aquino is perhaps one of the most recognizable names of the era of Martial Law in the Philippines for his unwavering courage amidst the darkest period of our country’s history. He was an advocate of freedom, someone who understood that freedom must be safeguarded through the voices that chose to be heard despite the risks involved.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫"

Those words not only imply sacrifice, but also a conviction in a nation worth serving, protecting and fighting for. However, the memory of Ninoy is not complete without pondering on what we are willing to do for our country.

Patriotism does not consist only of grand gestures from the youth of today but a determination to be truthful rather than misled, to serve rather than be indifferent, to be responsible and courageous.

A legacy does not consist only of being able to recall a person’s name. The true legacy lies in continuing the values they embodied through those that came after them.

Today, we do not merely remember Ninoy for the sacrifice he made, but for the responsibility left by his example to all of us Filipinos. Let us never forget him and let us never lose sight of the reasons why we love our country.

𝐓𝐘𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐃𝐄: 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄, 𝐃𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑.

Typhoons bring more than just strong winds and rainfall. It is a reminder of how disasters do not ask us if we are ready or not. Preparedness is something we need to be doing not only before but even after the typhoon comes and goes.

Preparedness does not mean living in fear. Being prepared is knowing what dangers we have in our surroundings and what we should do to ensure our safety and the safety of other people.

In times of disaster, each decision we make counts. Minutes of preparation, taking a warning seriously, and evacuating early may save us from great peril.

And when the typhoon leaves, our responsibilities do not end there. Recovering is a process that will need patience, collaboration, and empathy. We take care of each other, especially of the ones that need our assistance the most.
