A Call to Collective Action Against Gun Violence Among Filipino Youth

The safety of every child is non-negotiable.

In light of recent incidents of gun violence affecting young people and school communities, the Student Support Center of St. Therese School of Marilao takes a firm stand: protecting Filipino youth from violence is a shared responsibility that demands collective, urgent, and sustained action.

Gun violence is not the responsibility of one sector alone. Government, media, parents, teachers, schools, and communities each have a critical role to play—from strengthening firearm regulation and school security, to responsible reporting, attentive parenting, trauma-informed support, early intervention, and values formation.

At STSM, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening student support and referral systems, promoting conflict resolution and values education, reinforcing campus safety, partnering with our community, and advocating for a culture where every child can learn without fear.

No sector gets a pass. Together, or not at all.

Because Filipino youth deserve a country—and schools—that will stand up and fight for their safety, dignity, and future.

accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 127, St. Therese School of Marilao (STSM) will implement Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) starting 12:00 noon today, August 17, 2026 (Monday) due to the continuous rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Salamat po, Marilao! Our learners recently benefited from Siguradong Kalusugan: EskweLusugan — a Tuberculosis Symposium, BP monitoring, hemoglobin testing, and medical consultation held right here on our campus.

Our sincerest gratitude to Hon. Mayor Atty. Jem Sy, the Municipal Health Office of Marilao, and the Barangay Government of Loma de Gato for prioritizing the health of our students. A healthy child is a child ready to learn.

CLASSES WILL PROCEED — AUGUST 12, 2026

In line with the advisory of the Local Government Unit of Marilao, face-to-face classes at St. Therese School of Marilao, Inc. will proceed as scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, 2026. We follow the regular schedule for all levels, Pre-Elementary through Senior High School.

We ask everyone to travel with care and allow extra time on the road. Should conditions in your area remain unsafe, please reach out to your child’s Class Adviser — your family’s safety comes first, and no student will be at a disadvantage for staying home.

In accordance with the directive of Mayor Jem Sy and upon the recommendation of the Marilao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), classes in all levels in all public and private schools in the Municipality of Marilao will remain suspended tomorrow, August 11, 2026 (Tuesday), due to the continued rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Everyone is encouraged to remain prepared, vigilant, and alert to any changes in weather conditions. Please continue to monitor the official announcements of the Municipality of Marilao and the Marilao MDRRMO for important updates.

STSM ADVISORY | Suspension of Face-to-Face Classes

In accordance with the directive of Mayor Jem Sy and upon the recommendation of the Marilao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), face-to-face classes at all levels are suspended tomorrow, August 7, 2026, for both public and private schools in the Municipality of Marilao due to the continuous heavy rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Storm Maymay.

Pursuant to the existing policies of the Department of Education (DepEd), Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) of Learning will be implemented to ensure the continuity of students' learning. Further instructions regarding class activities will be provided by your respective teachers and advisers.

As technology continues to shape our world, our Theresians gained valuable insights on harnessing the power of AI while practicing responsible, ethical, and informed digital citizenship. Together, we are preparing learners who are not only tech-savvy but also responsible digital leaders.
