Teachers are partners in your childโ€™s growth, but the foundation of discipline starts from home.

A child who lies, steals, is rude, arrogant, or proud reflects habits picked up in the home environment before coming to school.

Parents must set good examples, monitor behavior, and train children in honesty, respect, humility, and responsibility.

When a child is well-disciplined at home, teachers can easily build on that foundation with academics and social skills.

Every parent wants to protect their child. That's natural.

But there is a difference between protecting your child and protecting them from the consequences of their own choices.

When a teacher calls home to explain that your child was disrespectful, disruptive, or broke the rules, your first instinct might be to defend them.

"They wouldn't do that."

"There must be more to the story."

"The teacher must have misunderstood."

Sometimes that's true.

But often, children make mistakes.

That's part of growing up.

The real lesson doesn't come from the mistake itself. It comes from what happens next.

When children learn that every consequence can be argued away, every rule can be challenged, and every adult outside the home can be blamed, they begin to believe accountability is optional.

Life doesn't work that way.

One day they'll have a boss who expects them to arrive on time.

A coach who benches them if they don't follow instructions.

A university professor who won't accept late work because they "didn't feel like it."

A judge who won't dismiss wrongdoing because someone else's feelings got hurt.

The habits children build today become the character they carry into adulthood.

Discipline isn't about humiliation.

It's not about fear.

And it certainly isn't about being harsh.

Done well, discipline is one of the greatest acts of love a parent can give. It teaches children that actions have consequences, that respect matters, and that mistakes are opportunities to grow rather than excuses to avoid responsibility.

Parents and teachers should never see each other as opponents.

The strongest children are usually raised by adults who work together, not against each other.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can say to your child isn't, "I'll defend you."

It's, "You made a mistake. Now let's help you learn from it."

Do you agree, or do you think parents should always defend their child when there's a disagreement with school?

DIRECTORS CALL WITH THE FACULTY FORCE
Dr. Rolly A. Dela Cruz
School Director and DA_Fam

On September 16, 2026, a Directors Call was conducted with the faculty force of Dolores Academy for School Year 2026โ€“2027. The gathering provided an opportunity for the school administration and teachers to come together, share insights, discuss relevant concerns, and strengthen their commitment to the holistic development and well-being of every learner.

One of the important topics discussed was mental health and emotional well-being, not only among students but also among educators. The discussion emphasized that teachers, as individuals who constantly guide and support learners, also need to recognize the importance of taking care of their own mental and emotional health. Understanding one's feelings, acknowledging struggles, and seeking appropriate support are essential in maintaining a healthy and positive learning environment.

The faculty also discussed the differences among age groups, particularly in terms of lifestyle, practices, perspectives, and approaches toward studying and working. Recognizing these differences can help teachers better understand their learners and colleagues. It was emphasized that every generation may have different experiences and ways of responding to challenges, but respect, patience, understanding, and open communication can bridge these differences.

Another meaningful point raised was the importance of having a friend, trusted person, or someone to talk to during times of problems, stress, or personal struggles. Having someone who listens without judgment can provide comfort, encouragement, and a sense that one does not have to face difficulties alone. The faculty was reminded of the value of being supportive and compassionate toward one another, especially during challenging moments.

The discussion also focused on healthy ways of coping with stress and emotional difficulties. Teachers were encouraged to recognize their personal limits, practice self-care, communicate their concerns, seek support when needed, and develop positive ways of managing stressful situations. These practices are not only beneficial to educators themselves but can also serve as meaningful examples for students.

The matters discussed during the Directors Call highlighted that teachers are not only educators but also role models in dealing with life's challenges. The way educators care for themselves, communicate with others, manage stress, and show compassion can become valuable lessons that learners can carry with them. In a constantly changing world, developing emotionally healthy, resilient, understanding, and compassionate individuals is an important part of education.

The meeting also included other matters concerning the school's plans, programs, upcoming activities, and other important concerns for School Year 2026โ€“2027. These discussions helped ensure that the faculty remains guided, coordinated, and prepared in carrying out the school's goals and responsibilities.

Overall, the Directors Call served as a meaningful avenue for reflection, communication, and collaboration among the faculty force. It strengthened the understanding that caring for one another is also part of educating our learners. Through unity, empathy, and shared responsibility, the Dolores Academy community continues to work toward providing not only quality education but also a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for every Doloresian.

Teachers Task During Students Health Day Break
๐Ÿ‘‰ Today, September 11, 2026, classes were suspended to give our Doloresians a much-needed health break and time to rest and stay safe. While the students were at home, our dedicated teachers continued to fulfill their responsibilities and made good use of the day.

The teachers took the opportunity to clean and disinfect their classrooms and other school facilities. This extra effort was done to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for everyone and to help protect the health and well-being of our Doloresians.

After cleaning, the teachers also spent time decorating the school as we slowly welcome the Christmas spirit. The simple decorations brought joy and excitement as the school community prepares for the coming holiday season. They also worked on their paperwork, reports, lesson preparations, and other important school-related tasks.

Although the day was tiring, it was fulfilling to see that the teachers accomplished their tasks with dedication and happiness. More importantly, working together with colleagues made the workload lighter and more enjoyable. Teamwork, cooperation, and camaraderie remind us that even ordinary school tasks can become meaningful when done together.

Todayโ€™s experience shows that being a teacher goes beyond classroom instruction. It also means caring for the school environment, looking after the welfare of the learners, preparing for future activities, and supporting one another as a team.

Indeed, a productive day becomes more meaningful when it is filled with hard work, laughter, cooperation, and a happy heart. Despite the tiredness, the teachers can end the day with a sense of fulfillment knowing that they have done their part for the safety, comfort, and continued development of our Doloresians....
