Strengthening School Safety Through Preparedness ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿซ

The Marikina Private Schools Association, Inc. (MARIPRISA), through the leadership of its officers Sir Audre Provido and Sir Oscar Tanyag, spearheaded the organization of an Active Shooting Preparedness Discussion/Forum, held online last August 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM via Google Meet.

The discussion focused on the upcoming Nationwide Simultaneous School Safety Drill for Active Attack Incidents and provided an important opportunity for private schools to discuss how the implementation of the drill can be appropriately tailor-fitted to the unique context, needs, and circumstances of each private school here in Marikina.

A key emphasis of the forum was the importance of ensuring that preparedness activities effectively promote school safety while also protecting the well-being of learners. Participants discussed approaches that would help schools prepare for possible active attack incidents without unnecessarily exposing learners to trauma, fear, or stress that may arise from certain aspects of the drill.

MARIPRISA extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Sir Garvie L. Medina of the SDO Marikina DRRM and PLTCOL Charito T. Tindugan, Assistant Chief of Police for Operations, Marikina City, for generously sharing their expertise and valuable insights during the discussion.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Dra. Salve Borlagdan of Ingenium School for graciously hosting the online meeting and helping make this important discussion possible.

Through meaningful collaboration, careful planning, and a learner-centered approach to preparedness, MARIPRISA and its member schools remain committed to building safer, more secure, and trauma-sensitive learning environments for everyone.

Together, we prepare. Together, we protect. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿซ

Good day, School Heads.

In view of the Yellow Rainfall Warning issued by DOST-PAGASA and the Cityโ€™s advisory, afternoon/2nd-shift classes are hereby suspended today, Monday, August 17, 2026.

All private schools are enjoined to abide by this suspension and ensure its appropriate implementation within their respective campuses.

Schools are likewise encouraged to assess on-site conditions and consider the early dismissal of students, when necessary, to help ensure the safe and orderly travel of students, parents, and school personnel before weather conditions further deteriorate.

In line with DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026, โ€œGuidelines on Learning Continuity in Emergencies,โ€ schools are reminded to observe the 4H Protocol: Hinto, Hinga, Hinay, Hayoโ€”emphasizing the importance of pausing operations when necessary, ensuring safety, exercising caution, and taking appropriate action during emergency situations, including adverse weather conditions.

Schools are also reminded to consider the use of allowed Alternative Delivery Modes of Education (ADM), as provided under existing DepEd memoranda, when applicable and appropriate, to support learning continuity while prioritizing the safety and welfare of the school community.

We encourage all School Heads to exercise prudence, vigilance, and sound judgment in responding to the prevailing weather conditions.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and commitment to the safety and welfare of our learners, parents, teachers, and school personnel.

Stay safe, everyone. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Leading Through Partnership and Service โค๏ธ๐Ÿค

MARIPRISA takes pride in the continued representation of the private education sector in the humanitarian and disaster-response community through MARIPRISA President Ronald Caguin, who serves as a mandated member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Marikina Chapter.

President Caguin participated in the monthly Board Meeting of the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Marikina Chapter, held last Friday, August 14, 2026, representing the collective voice and interests of private schools in Marikina City.

Also present during the board meeting was Sir Oscar Tanyag, PRC โ€“ Marikina Chapter Board Member and DRRM Director for MARIPRISA, further strengthening MARIPRISAโ€™s active involvement and collaboration in disaster risk reduction and management initiatives.

Through these important roles, MARIPRISA remains committed to strengthening collaboration between private schools, the Philippine Red Cross, government agencies, and other community stakeholders, particularly in the areas of disaster preparedness, emergency response, first aid, humanitarian service, and school safety.

This representation reflects MARIPRISA's commitment to ensuring that the concerns and perspectives of the private education sector are actively heard and integrated into community-based preparedness and response initiatives.

Serving beyond the classroom. Building safer schools. Strengthening communities.
