๐ฟ Eco-Fact of the Week:
Did you know that recycling a single aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours?
1. Creating aluminum from bauxite ore is very energy demanding. The process includes mining the ore โ๏ธ, crushing it, refining it, and then using electrolysis, which consumes a particularly large amount of electricity๐. As a result, producing new aluminum requires a huge amount of energy.
2. Recycling aluminum avoids the energy-intensive stages of production. Recycled cans are simply melted ๐ฅ and remolded ๐ ๏ธ, a process that uses up to 95% less โกenergy than producing aluminum from bauxite. Rather than extracting aluminum from ore, we just reuse ๐ existing metal, making the process much quicker and far less demanding on electricity.
3. The energy saved by recycling one aluminum can is enough to power various household devices, such as:
A TV for 3 hours ๐บโฑ๏ธ
A laptop for 10 minutes ๐ปโฒ๏ธ
A light bulb for several hours ๐ก๐
Small action, big impact โป๏ธโจ: recycle your cans ๐ฅซ and help save energy โก๐ก!

๐ฟ Eco-Fact of the Week:
Did you know? Plastic never fully disappears. It only turns into microplastics that pollute our oceans, soil, and even the air we breathe.
Why plastic never completely disappears?
1. Built from tough chemical structures.
Plastics are created from polymersโlong molecular chains sourced from petroleum. These chains are extremely sturdy, making them difficult to break down.
2. Microorganisms canโt break it apart.
Unlike natural materials such as paper or food scraps, plastic cannot be digested by bacteria or fungi because they lack the enzymes needed to decompose it.
3. It only breaks into smaller bits, not fully.
Sunlight, heat, and ocean movement gradually cause plastic to crumble into tiny particles called microplastics. However, these particles remain in the environment for hundreds or even thousands of years.
๐โป๏ธ Reduce, reuse, and rethink your choices! ๐ฟ

๐ฟ Eco-Fact of the Week:
Recycling paper helps save trees and can reduce water pollution by up to 35% compared to producing paper from virgin pulp. โป๏ธ๐ง
1. Reduced demand for virgin pulp โ Since paper comes from wood, recycling decreases the need to cut down new trees for paper production.
2. Lower water use and chemical pollution โ Producing paper from virgin pulp requires bleaching and other chemical treatments to remove lignin and impurities, which often end up in wastewater. Recycled paper already has much of the lignin removed, so it needs fewer chemicals and less water, resulting in less toxic discharge into rivers and streams.
In short: Recycling paper helps save trees, preserve forests, and cuts water pollution from paper production by about 35%, protecting rivers, lakes, and other freshwater ecosystems.
Small actions make a big difference for our planet! ๐๐

An Ecological Solid Waste Management Activity organized by the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O).
This initiative aims to promote proper waste segregation, recycling, and environmental awareness among students. The collection of used white papers began in August 2025, and the weighing of all collected papers was conducted on October 17, 2025.
Through this activity, our students demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship, turning simple classroom efforts into meaningful action for a sustainable future.
๐ Congratulations to all participants and winners for your dedication and contribution to protecting our environment.
