Sto. Niño Elementary School - Marikina Located at Guerilla Street, Sto. Niño, Marikina City (District I) HISTORY OF STO. NIÑO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Location
Sto. Niño. dela Paz Street. Isidro S.

Niño elementary School is located in a 6,684 square meter site in the center of Barangay Sto. It is bounded on the North by Agricultores Street, on the South bu P. Antonio Street, on the East by Lazaro Street and on the West by E. Like the Holy Child where it got the name, Sto. Niño Elementary School blossomed from nothingness to the grandiosity as it is today. Its colorful history traces back fr

om the two wooden building built in 1940 located in a lot that can easily be mistaken into a creek after a heavy downpour. In 1944, conditions got worse as the Japanese soldiers occupied the place. After the liberation, the number of classrooms increased as temporary construction was done. Expansions and repairs continued until 1969 when it became an established elementary school with Miss Ester Cruz as the principal. It has the HE building, a clinic, a guidance center and a shop building. Also, the once forsaken place was turned into a garden full of trees, plants and flowers. An unfortunate event occurred on March 25, 1965 as the main building was razed by fire. However, to restore what was burned to ash, Hon. Rodriguez, then governor of Rizal funded the construction of the first two-storey building built in the Municipality of Rizal. On August 2005, the City Engineering office ordered the demolition of the 4 buildings as they were deemed defective after a thorough inspection. As not to disrupt classes, the then principal, Mrs Merle Papel initiated the construction of a 4-room makeshift. In July 2008, Congressmen Del de Guzman and Marcelino Teodoro turned over a 21-room 3-storey building which is currently utilized as classrooms and service centers. Currently, SNES lives up to its impeccable name as the teachers work hand-in-hand with the community in achieving the school’s vision and mission.
