Domingo, Teacher III and Guidance Designate from Marcos National High School, lead a meaningful session on the Positive Classroom Discipline Approach.

Mrs. Domingo shared her valuable expertise on how educators can move beyond traditional authority and create a more supportive and restorative classroom environment. Leveling Up: From Surface to Deep Learning!

The chalkboards were quiet, but the minds were buzzing! On February 19, our faculty traded their lesson plans for learning pads during our 2026 In-Service Training (INSET) for Teachers. With the support of our School Head, Mr. Eric B. Acoba, we were privileged to host a true champion of education, Dr. James Verdadero, School Principal I of Ferdinand Elementary School. He didn't just talk about teaching; he challenged us to bridge the gap between "knowing" and "mastering."

Dr. Verdadero took us on a deep dive into Educational Development, focusing on how we can spark curiosity and critical thinking across every subject—from the logic of Math to the creativity of Language Arts.

The "star of the show" was the SOLO (Structure of Observed Learning Outcome) Taxonomy. Instead of just asking what students know, Dr. Verdadero showed us how to guide them through the stages:
• Pre-structural: Sorting out the basics.
• Uni/Multi-structural: Connecting the dots.
• Relational & Extended Abstract: Indicating a deep, conceptual understanding where learners go beyond given information.

Agunit National High School is honored to have Hon. Florante Pedro, Kagawad of Brgy. Pacifico, as the resource speaker during the Values Education talk held at the school’s covered court right after the flag ceremony. He emphasized that respect begins at home, reminding everyone that “kissing or a simple bless to parents before leaving and arriving home is one of the signs of respect.”

His message left a strong reminder that respect is not only spoken but lived out in simple daily actions that show love and honor to parents, elders, and the people around us. Small gestures done with sincerity become the foundation of stronger families and a respectful community.

The AgNHS community sincerely thanks Hon. Pedro for sharing his time and wisdom. This meaningful talk strengthens the school’s ongoing commitment to values formation, ensuring that respect continues to guide the hearts and actions of every learner.

Students who lack reading skills have become a great struggle for teachers, most especially in Junior and Senior High School. This issue is largely attributed to the learning disruptions caused by the pandemic. It has sparked serious concern, as Filipino learners continue to rank among the lowest in reading and comprehension. In response, our government, particularly the Schools Division Office of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN), in partnership with Agunit National High School is doing its utmost to ensure that no student is left behind. Their priority is to help learners master the foundational skills of reading and comprehension, which are essential for academic success.
