The 𝐔𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐠𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬 (𝐔𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐋) is the largest organization of Filipino writers in the country. It was established in 1974 to promote Philippine literature in all languages, unite writers, advocate for their rights, and foster literary development through literary events, awards, workshops, and publications.

𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐚 𝐀. 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐧 is a faculty member of literary and cultural studies at the Department of English, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mindanao State University-Main Campus in Marawi City. Her writing has appeared in anthologies, newspapers, online literary sites, and other publications. She also advocates for peace, equality, gender issues, among others.

In alignment with the national government's energy efficiency initiatives (Memorandum Circular No. 114 s. 2026) and in honor of the sacred final ten days of Ramadhan—a period of profound spiritual reflection and family for our Muslim community—Mindanao State University - Main Campus, Marawi will observe an 𝑬𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 13 𝒕𝒐 22, 2026. This break allows everyone the opportunity for religious observance, family connection, and encourages responsible energy consumption throughout the campus.

During this time, regular classes and non-essential office operations will be suspended. Essential services shall adopt skeletal workforce arrangements and previously scheduled activities shall continue operations. Normal classes and operations will resume on March 23, 2026.

RINAYAG 2026 | Advancing Scholarship in English Language Teaching

The Master of Arts in English Language Teaching (MAELT) program of Mindanao State University – English Department successfully conducted RINAYAG: A Research Workshop in English Language Teaching on February 13, 2026.

Anchored on the spirit of illumination and intellectual exchange, RINAYAG brought together faculty members, researchers, and graduate students for a day of rigorous academic engagement, collaborative learning, and research mentoring.

Dr. Sharifa K. Masorong opened the scholarly discussions with “Mapping of ELT-related Topics,” guiding participants in identifying relevant and underexplored research areas. This was followed by Prof. Jerryk C. Alico’s session, “Building Strong ELT-related Studies: Foundations of Research Design,” which emphasized methodological rigor, coherence, and ethical research practices.

In the afternoon, Mr. Frank Bernie Gayla, the Best Thesis Awardee of the 2026 MAELT graduates, presented his correlational study on teachers’ assessment literacy and students’ oral communication performance, demonstrating the value of data-driven inquiry in ELT.

The final presentation, “From Chalkboards to Chatbots: AI in Research and ELT,” delivered by Dr. Sorhaila Latip-Yusoph, explored the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in research and language teaching. The workshops and parallel critiquing session, facilitated by Dr. Hammim B. Casan, further strengthened participants’ research designs through constructive mentoring.

RINAYAG 2026 reflects the MAELT program’s commitment to cultivating a strong, reflective, and methodologically sound research culture in English Language Teaching.

𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬: 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

In view of the Heavy Rainfall Warning issued by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Lanao del Sur, classes at all levels are hereby suspended tomorrow, February 23, 2026, to ensure the safety of our students. However, please be informed that all officials and staff are required to report for duty, as administrative operations and essential services shall continue as scheduled.
