Let’s celebrate International Day of the Midwife with this year’s theme: '𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨.' This is a global call to action—not just a campaign, but a goal and a message in recognition of the need for more midwives around the world and the role of midwives in improving maternal and newborn care.

Centered on the theme “𝙇𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡-𝙉𝙚𝙬𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚”, the event marked a meaningful transition as 28 student midwife candidates stepped into clinical practice.

The ceremony commenced with a solemn processional, followed by an invocation and the singing of hymns. In her welcome address, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗵 𝗕. 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗼-𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗶, the College Dean, conveyed her pride in the students’ commitment and perseverance. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗕𝗮𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗕. 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗿 highlighted the significance of the apron and candle as symbols of 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. The presentation of candidates was conducted by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗠. 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀, BSM Program Coordinator, leading to the defining moment of the ceremony—the donning of the apron and lighting of candles, 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀’ 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. This was followed by the Midwifery Pledge, led by 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗿𝗮 𝗕. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝘀𝗮.

𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗠. 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗯 formally introduced the guest of honor, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗠. 𝗟𝘂𝗯𝗴𝘂𝗯𝗮𝗻, who then delivered an inspiring message on the vital role of midwives in maternal and newborn care, encouraging the students to 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 they may encounter. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆.

Adding a heartfelt touch, the batch performed “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯” originally performed by Miley Cyrus, reflecting their journey of perseverance and faith. This was followed by the Midwife’s Prayer led by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗠. 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀, invoking guidance from the Almighty God as the students embrace their 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝘆, 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. A tribute to the parents then followed, honoring their unwavering support and sacrifices throughout the students’ journey.

In closing, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗟. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗮 reminded the students that there will be times they will feel tired and doubtful of themselves, but in those moments, they must look back on this day— 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 ‘𝗜𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗮,’ 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 ‘𝗟𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵,’ 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱.

The ceremony stood as a powerful celebration of 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘆𝗮—each flame symbolizing a journey just beginning.

It is a time that has strengthened our faith, deepened our compassion, and reminded us of the importance of sincerity in both our عبادات and our service to others.

May this Eid bring peace, joy, and renewed hope to our hearts. May Allah accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds, forgive our shortcomings, and guide us to remain steadfast in both our faith and our chosen path of service.

Let this celebration be a reminder that the true essence of Eid lies not only in festivity, but in gratitude, unity, and the continuous pursuit of becoming better individuals for the sake of others.

With grateful hearts, the 𝗕𝗦 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 has successfully conducted its very 1𝒔𝒕 𝑰𝒇𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝑫𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆, made possible through the collaboration of 𝑩𝑨𝑻𝑪𝑯 𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑨𝑯𝑼𝒀𝑶 and 𝑩𝑨𝑻𝑪𝑯 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑨𝒀𝑨, together with the 𝑺𝑶𝑪𝑰𝑬𝑻𝒀 𝑶𝑭 𝑺𝑻𝑼𝑫𝑬𝑵𝑻 𝑴𝑰𝑫𝑾𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑺. This meaningful initiative was carried out with the shared goal of spreading kindness, compassion, and the true spirit of Ramadan.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS), through its Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM) program, recently conducted a highly anticipated courtesy and ocular visit on September 24, 2025, at 1:00 in the afternoon at the MSU Medical Services and Hospital. This significant visit, attended by BSM faculty and midwifery students, aimed to provide students with invaluable exposure to the Delivery Room (DR) facilities as part of their clinical learning experience. It also served to establish professional relationships and explore possible future collaborations between the institutions.

This meaningful experience gave the BS Midwifery students the chance to see up close the real environment where new life begins and to learn more about the vital role midwives play in safe and compassionate maternal care. We sincerely thank the MSU Medical Services and Hospital for warmly accommodating the midwifery students, providing a tour, and generously sharing their knowledge and delivery experiences. Your guidance and openness truly inspired the students to strive harder in their journey to become future midwives who serve with skill, care, and heart.
