MARAWI CITY โ The morning of April 28, 2026 became a meaningful learning experience for students and representatives from various departments and organizations of RC-AKICFI Main as they gathered for a timely and relevant seminar on peacebuilding and community resilience.
Organized by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Region XII-B Lanao Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Division (PBCRD), the seminar, titled โStrengthening Community Resilience: A Local Approach to Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE),โ was held at the RC-AKICFI SHS - ACH, Marawi City.
The event was graced by NCMF Lanao PBCRD Chief Sultan Acdami D. Bansao, together with his team, who guided the participants through a well-structured and engaging program. The seminar opened with a clear rationale explaining the purpose of the gathering, followed by a brief yet informative introduction to the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and its role in promoting peace and unity in Muslim communities.
As the discussion progressed, Ms. Kharima T. Ananggo, NCMF Lanao PBCRD staff, discussed the concept and realities of violent extremism and the importance of addressing it through peaceful and informed actions. The speaker explained the topic in a simple and relatable way, making it easier for students to understand complex issues.
What truly made the seminar stand out was its interactive approach. Instead of just listening, participants were actively involved, especially during the reflection segment. They were given real-life situations and were encouraged to share their opinions freely. The room became a safe space for open discussion, where different ideas were welcomed and respected. This activity not only made the session more engaging but also helped students think more deeply and become more aware of their role in promoting peace through the given scenarios. To show appreciation, the organizers also gave small tokens to participants who actively took part in sharing their answers.
The event aimed to raise awareness, strengthen community resilience, and inspire the youth to take part in preventing violent extremism through peacebuilding and responsible engagement. More than just a lecture, it served as a reminder that every individual, especially the youth, has a role to play in creating a safer and more united community.
Programs like this continue to show the importance of education beyond the classroom. By encouraging awareness and active participation, initiatives like this help build stronger, more informed communities. The success of the event reflects the shared commitment of both organizers and participants in promoting peace, understanding, and unity.
