To better understand how plastic moves through the 105-km Mulan River in the People’s Republic of , an ADB-supported pilot activity estimated how wastes are generated and moved from different sources.

The study informed the design of a broader program that includes
1️⃣ strengthening solid collection, recycling, and disposal;
2️⃣ improving of agricultural plastic films;
3️⃣ establishing a plastics and textiles facility; and
4️⃣ supporting community education.

Mindanao State University–Marawi, through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED), has secured a corporate rate arrangement with Go Hotels Iligan, giving our employees access to special flat rates regardless of peak dates or the day of the week.

Under the arrangement, MSU employees may avail themselves of the corporate rate upon presentation of a valid MSU-Marawi ID upon check in.

Representatives from Mindanao State University–Marawi participated in the in-person Program Orientation and Monitoring of the DOST-PCIEERD-funded program, “𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗜𝗣 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀: 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴/𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱-𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗣 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀—𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀,” held at the College of Engineering of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology.

The orientation brought together representatives from MSU-Marawi and MSU-IIT, particularly from the respective Research Offices, Accounting, and Property Sections, as well as counterparts from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD). The activity focused on strengthening coordination among implementing institutions, clarifying program implementation and administrative requirements, and facilitating the effective management and monitoring of the funded research initiatives.

Faculty members from the MSU-Marawi College of Engineering led by Project 3 leader Prof. Susie E. Maestre alongside Prof. Sihawi A. Khalid, together with the project team participated in preparation for their project implementation. The participation of the MSU-Marawi in this research program highlights the University’s continuing engagement in advancing research and innovation in microelectronics and emerging technologies in Southern Philippines.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Annie Mae Berowa, together with the team from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED), attended the orientation, demonstrating the OVCRED's full support for the University’s research and development initiatives and the continuing efforts of the Office to strengthen externally funded research collaborations.
