24th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference and Competition

Day 2 marked the culmination of the 24th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference and Competition, featuring the final rounds and awarding ceremonies of major national events. These included the selection of winners for the Most Outstanding Student Chapter (MOSC) and the Most Outstanding Civil Engineering Student (MOCES), as well as the highly anticipated 40th National Civil Engineering Students’ Quiz Finals (NCESQ) and the 32nd Bridge Competition.

PICE AKIC Student Chapter also participated in the additional activities and educational tour prepared for all delegates, allowing students to broaden their experience, deepen their understanding of the civil engineering field, and engage with fellow chapters across the country.

Day 2 concluded with recognition, inspiration, and strengthened unity among future civil engineers.

PICE AKIC Student Chapter proudly participated in the 24th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference and Student Competitions held on 24–25 November 2025 at the Quezon City Meeting, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) Center, Parking Lot, Diliman, Quezon City.

With the theme “Empowering Membership, Promoting Specialization: Building a Stronger PICE for the Preferred Future,” Day 1 featured a series of seminars and a fellowship program that enriched the learning experience of civil engineering students and professionals.

Day 1 covered the following topics delivered by esteemed speakers:

• “Emerging Contaminants and Current Trends in Water Quality Monitoring” – Dr. Kevin Lawrence M. De Jesus
• “Challenges in Retrofitting of Buildings” – Dr. Stephen John C. Clemente
• “Advancing Sustainability in Concrete Construction” – Dr. Christian R. Orozco
• “Geotechnical Engineering” – Engr. Izzhar Christian Sumagaysay

Day 1 concluded with valuable insights, professional engagement, and strengthened connections within the civil engineering community.

PICE AKIC Student Chapter is officially recognized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) as one of the new student chapters for the year 2025. We are proud to finally stand alongside long-established chapters such as Philippine Engineering and Agro-Industrial College, Inc., Mindanao State University Main Campus, Notre Dame University – Cotabato City, and Cotabato State University, becoming part of the recognized chapters in the Lanao area.

On March 15, 2025, AKIC was finally recognized, marking a long-awaited milestone for the chapter.

During the 24th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference and Competition, PICE AKIC Chapter was formally acknowledged as one of the 13 newly accredited PICE student chapters, strengthening our commitment to growth, excellence, and active participation in the civil engineering community.

Proudly and wholeheartedly endorsed by their Mother Chapter, headed by PICE Lanao del Sur Chapter President, Engr. RD Basir M. Ibrahim.

For PICE Members’ Information

Following our official statement dated August 24, 2025, regarding the national issue on Flood Control Projects, the National Board has undertaken the following actions:

- Ethics Committee Action – Members who admitted involvement were placed on the PICE Inactive List and issued Show Cause Orders. Their responses will be evaluated for possible delisting, with final recommendations endorsed to PRC.

- Independent Technical Committee for ICI – An Independent Committee was created to coordinate with ICI and provide technical support.

- Chapter Engagement – Local Chapters were encouraged to work closely with LGUs to identify ways they can assist in addressing the issue.

- Support for Members – A special webinar was scheduled for members experiencing mental stress due to the controversy, especially as some have unfairly generalized a sector of our profession.

The PICE National reaffirms its commitment to actively and decisively address this issue, standing firm in upholding the integrity of our profession amidst these challenges.
