Celebrating 65 years of shared history and academic excellence! The Department of Sociology-Anthropology took part in the 65th Founding Anniversary of Mindanao State University, taking this special moment to also commemorate our own 65th Departmental Anniversary with a festive salo-salo during Fiesta ng Bayan.

The occasion was made even more special as we shared good laughter and stories with delegates from MSU-General Santos, alongside fun games with the department community. It was a wonderful moment to honor 65 years of shared legacy and academic excellence while strengthening the camaraderie that makes MSU truly special.

Although Philippine independence was once commemorated on July 4, President Macapagal later declared June 12 as the official Independence Day, first celebrated in 1963, honoring the historic proclamation by General Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite, in 1898, when the Philippine flag was unfurled and the national anthem was first played.

Today marks the 128๐ญ๐ก ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž. The inherent right of every Filipino does not depend on this day alone. Even in the smallest corners of society, cries for freedom persistโ€”voices meant not to be ignored, noble pasts remembered, and desperate pleas that refuse to be silenced. These acts of courage and sacrifice do not diminish century-old efforts. Let the recognition of this day serve as a wake-up call, urging us to reject complacency and never blindly submit to any form of authority or oppression.
