On April 17, 2019, Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act was enacted to address gender-based sexual harassment in public settings, workplaces, schools, and online platforms. It strengthens protection mechanisms and promotes a culture of accountability and respect in every setting.

Seven years later, the call remains the same. Makibahagi, manindigan, at kumilos. Together, let us make safe spaces a daily reality for all.

This year’s theme, “Katawan Ko, Karapatan Ko: Edukasyon Tungo sa Malaya at Ligtas na Pagpapasya,” highlights the importance of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) education in empowering girls with knowledge, access to accurate information and services, and the confidence to make safe, informed decisions about their bodies, relationships, and futures.

The 2026 Girl Child Week for March 22 to 28 underscores the need to ensure equal opportunities and protection for girls as they take on vital roles in nation-building. It also complements the celebration of National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day.
