The Department of Social Work – Lake Lanao College Inc. joins the entire LLCI community in mourning the loss of our beloved founding president, Dr. Taharoden Ampaso Ariong Angni Alawi Alamo Ampao Maruhom Kahar Wahab, J.D., also known as Sangcopan a Adil sa Raya.

From our faculty members, Social Work Student Council officers, and students whose hearts he helped uplift - we extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the bereaved family. "Sir Wahab," as many fondly called him, was not just a founder - he was a visionary of education rooted in compassion and justice - values we uphold in our very own department.

He may have left this world, but his legacy lives on in every classroom, every student he gave hope to, and every orphan whose dream he helped protect. ✨

Driven by empathy, he founded Lake Lanao College Foundation Inc., a haven for the poor and the orphans of Marawi and Lanao del Sur. It is because of this powerful dream that many of us in the Social Work Department found our calling - to serve, to lead, and to uplift.

🧡 As future social workers, we carry his legacy. His life reminds us why we serve: to be the voice of the unheard, and the hope for the underserved.

🕌 Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

Lake Lanao College Inc. proudly witnessed a meaningful milestone on Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2025, as the newly elected officers of the Social Work Student Council officially took their oath of office during a joint Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony.

The event was a significant moment for the Department of Social Work, marking the start of a new leadership journey rooted in service, unity, and dedication. Students, faculty members, and supporters came together in celebration of this symbolic occasion one that honored the trust given to these student leaders by their peers.

Special congratulations were extended to the newly elected President of the Social Work Student Council, who will be leading the new set of officers in delivering progressive and student-centered initiatives for the department. Together, the officers committed themselves to upholding the values of integrity, responsibility, and social justice core principles of the social work profession.

"This Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony is not just a tradition it’s a commitment. A commitment to serve our fellow students with compassion and purpose," shared one of the faculty members present at the event.

The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, motivational remarks, and a strong sense of community. It also highlighted the importance of student leadership in shaping a better environment for learning, advocacy, and development.

Maraming salamat to all who attended and supported the event. The success of this program reflects the spirit of solidarity and excellence within the department.

2025 Departmental Election: A Call for Leadership and Student Participation

Marawi City - The Department of Social Work at Lake Lanao College Incorporated officially opens the 2025 Departmental Election, marking another milestone for student leadership and participation. Organized by the Department Commission on Elections (COMELEC), this year's election invites all eligible and passionate students to take part in shaping the future of the department.

COMELEC encourages students with strong moral character, academic integrity, and leadership potential to participate in the election process. The goal is not only to elect representatives but to foster a community of accountable, student-driven leadership.

"This is more than just an election; it is a chance for students to be heard, to lead, and to inspire others through service," said one of the COMELEC officers.

Below is the official calendar of activities:

- May 20-21, 2025: Filing of Certificate of Candidacy
- May 22, 2025: Campaign Period
- May 23, 2025: Miting de Avance
- May 24, 2025: Election Day

Interested candidates may obtain and submit their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) at the Department Office during the filing dates.

This election serves as a platform for students to engage, empower, and take part in building a dynamic and active department. Whether as a voter or a candidate, your participation matters.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to sir ABDULHAKIM SAMPORNA, RSW, to serve as their panel judge during the pre-defense, And also to ma'am AYESHA MAE BANTAS,RSW, Ma'am Ayesha MAE BANTAS,RSW and Sir, JAMAL R. PANDAPATAN,RSW, Top 9 in SWLE 2024 as a panel judge during the Final defense. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with our students it may be possible without your presence and support.

Social Work Practice with Groups aims to mold and prepare the future social work intern in making one of 3 methods of social work such as COMMUNITY ORGANIZING, GROUP WORK, and SOCIAL CASE WORK.

The second year students express their commendations to ma'am Rohaira M. YUSOP, RSW,MPA, MAED for supporting the above-mentioned activities her leadership as a chair person is remarkable.

It is our pride and honor to represent the Philippines, Specifically the Lake Lanao College Incorporated for Global Competition through his project Educ Action held at Bangkok, Thailand on October 24-26 2024.
