It was founded 1948. And is now currently Headed by SINOMBAE A. SULTAN It is approximately more than 76 years since its founding anniversary on 1948.
Sugod Central Elementary School is located at Barangay Sugod Proper, 3.9 kilometers from the proper town of Islamic City of Marawi. The school was strategically located 205 meters away from the LDS District 1 National Highway, accessible mostly by tricycle and multi-cabs/Jeepneys, covering an area of 1999.25 square meter. It’s first operation and service were in 1948 with a very minimal 45 numbers
of learners. Currently, the school now has 755 total number of enrollees, 375 males, and 380 females. The barangay now is currently having a total population of 2, 999 (2020 census), whose families depend on fishing, farming, carpentry, driving, small business, taking care of the animals, and others income for their living. The teaching personnel is composed of one School Principal, 20 teachers, and 1 administrative aide. The school with scarcity of teaching personnel encouraging newly LET passers in the community to serve in the school with minimal compensation allowance. The school is committed to improve the competencies of the teaching staff through the implementation of some interventions such as In-service training, LAC sessions, attending professional development, and even online seminars and training to address the needs of teachers, aside from the training provided by the department and the ministry. The school has its great leap in the coming of the 21st century, where many changes, repairs, and renovations were brought about. To name some, there were constructions of the new DepEd building, Open gym donated by the LGU-Marawi in times of the administration of City Mayor, Atty Majul U. Gandamra, rehabilitation of the kindergarten rooms and minor repairs to all classrooms, installation of tap running water, repainting of the school walls and fences, renovation of the stage, and renovation of the school garden. In terms of the physical facilities, the school is fully equipped with functional water system from electric powered motor. Classrooms are fully lighted and ventilated. There are washing areas and with water faucets and running tap water. Comfort rooms as well are functional. When it comes to learning environment, there are scarcity of rooms in the school because one Marcos Type building was demolished but unfortunately with some miscommunication with the office of the Schools Division Superintendent, the replacement building donated by the Hope Foundation was nor permitted by the OSDS. As of now, there are classrooms that are undertaking shifting of classes in order to serve all the enrolled learners. Unfortunately, despite large numbers of learners, no extra teachers are available to handle the other shifting class. For the pupils’ health and welfare, the schools in coordination with the Health and Nutrition Unit establish partnership in addressing health issues of the learners particularly on their nutritional status, physical health and socio-emotional and mental health of the learners. Child safeguarding and protection is strictly adhered in the school and ensure that cases on child abuse and bullying is well addressed immediately. The school also takes into consideration the drop-outs and out of school youths, thus ensures that they are reached through home visitations, campaign materials, and linkages with the barangay through family mapping. The barangay council, the School Governance Council, and other stakeholders are always within the reach thus, good rapport is very well established. There are strong linkages also with the government and non-government agencies, which the schools acknowledge the importance to work at the community levels and to be innovative in responding to community needs. Networking and Linkages focus on very good communications and partnerships with others to serve people with mutual interest. To sum it up, the school is practicing the School Based Management with the goal of providing responsive, relevant and quality Education.
