⚖️ Shari'ah Review Class: Sharpening the Next Generation of Legal Minds! 🇵🇭

We're incredibly proud to share that the Shari'ah Center successfully completed its 8th day of the regular Shari'ah Review Class last Saturday!
Running since October 2025 and continuing until April 2026, this essential class is dedicated to supporting our aspiring Shari'ah Lawyers preparing for the special Shari'ah Bar Examinations. The passing of this Bar allows our Muslim legal professionals to practice and uphold the Code of Muslim Personal Laws (PD 1083), which governs personal and family relations within the Philippine Muslim community.

🏛️ Deep Dive into Shari'ah Court Procedure
This past Saturday's session featured none other than our esteemed leader, Director Hassan A. Aguam, SCL, JD, who delivered a highly focused and practical lecture on Court Procedure.

The class covered critical foundational topics, including:
General Principles and the structure of Shari'ah Courts in the Philippines.

1. Core concepts like Actions, Cause of Action, Parties to Actions, and Venue of Actions.
2. A detailed analysis of Jurisdiction, specifically examining the powers of the Shari’a Circuit Court (Art. 155) and the Shari’a District Court (Art. 143 & 144) under PD 1083.
3. Crucial updates on jurisdiction as modified by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (RA 11054, Sections 5, 6, & 7), including the authority of the prospective Shari'ah High Court.

Alhamdulillah | During its meeting on April 14, 2025, the Mindanao State University Board of Regents (MSU BOR) approved the MSU Strategic Plan for Strengthening the Shari’ah Legal Education in the Philippines (MSU SPSSLEP).

The MSU SPSSLEP shall be MSU’s contribution to the thrust to strengthen the foundations of Shari’ah justice espoused by the Supreme Court of the Philippines under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations, 2022-2027 (SPJI).

“MSU is the country’s leading academic institution that provides instruction, research, and extension on Shari’ah legal education through the MSU College of Law, the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies (KFCIAAS), and the MSU Shari’ah Center.” – MSU SPSSLEP.

The MSU SPSSLEP will be formally launched sometime in May 2025.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT to all enrolled participants of the 15th Shari'ah Bar Review Class for the year 2025, please be informed that our Orientation Program will take place on January 4, 2025 (Saturday). Attendance will be mandatory and recorded.
