The Alternative Learning System (ALS) – Schools Division of Marawi City successfully conducted Project SALAAM (Strengthening ALS Learning through Advancement in Assessment and Methodology) in partnership with the Mindanao State University – College of Education (MSU-COE) and the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).

The initiative aims to enhance the competencies of ALS teachers by strengthening their knowledge and skills in assessment practices, instructional methodologies, and learner-centered approaches responsive to the diverse needs of out-of-school youth and adult learners.

The activity was further strengthened by the presence of 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒆 𝑴. 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏, 𝑷𝒉𝑫 (𝑩𝒂𝒆 𝒂 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒊 𝒌𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒐, and 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒊𝒅𝒂 𝑫. 𝑨𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒂𝒏, 𝑷𝒉𝑫, whose participation served as a source of encouragement and inspiration to the ALS implementers and educators. In her message, Dr. Sumagayan emphasized the significant role of ALS teachers in providing accessible, inclusive, and quality basic education opportunities to learners who are unable to access the formal school system.

Under the leadership of 𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐏. 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐦𝐚𝐧, the Schools Division of Marawi City extends its sincere appreciation to all partners, facilitators, and participants who contributed to the successful implementation of Project SALAAM.

The conduct of this initiative underscores the Department’s commitment to continuous professional development, instructional excellence, and inclusive education. Through strengthened teacher capacity and meaningful partnerships, Project SALAAM contributes to the shared goal of ensuring that every learner is given meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed—leaving no learner behind.

The 1st Division Library Orientation Seminar and Training Workshop was successfully conducted on September 19, 2026, at the Marawi City Division APCES Compound, anchored on the theme, “Strengthening School Libraries as Centers of Lifelong Learning.”

The activity was headed by the 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒆 𝑴. 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏 (𝑩𝒂𝒆 𝒂 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒊 𝒌𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒐) 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒊𝒅𝒂 𝑫. Through Project NOOR (Nurturing Outstanding & Omnipresent Readers), the activity underscores the Department of Education’s continuing commitment to strengthening school library programs, enhancing the capacity of school library coordinators, and fostering a culture of reading and lifelong learning among learners.

This participation underscores the Division’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, institutional coordination, and the promotion of a peaceful, orderly, and successful electoral process in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The activity was made possible through the dedicated leadership, guidance, and support of the Division Officials and personnel in various areas, whose commitment, coordination, and active participation contributed to the successful commencement of this significant undertaking.

The opening day reflected the commitment of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education to promoting excellence, responsible journalism, creativity, and holistic learner development by providing learners with meaningful opportunities to express themselves, develop their skills, and showcase their talents.

The journey toward excellence has officially begun. Together, the Marawi City Division continues to nurture empowered, talented, creative, and future-ready learners.
