The College of Social Sciences and Humanities kicked off its founding anniversary with a full day of activities centered on the theme โ€œSidlak 2026: Imahinasyon bilang Sandigan at Sidlak ng Paglikha at Pagbabago.โ€

Dean Dr. Monaimah G. Manabilang opened the celebration where all students, faculty, and staff of the college enjoyed the wide array of events prepared especially for them.

During the celebration, the Office of the Dean recognized outstanding faculty members and staff, and also organized games (with prices) for the faculty to enjoy. Former dean Dr. Datumanong Sarangani delivered an inspirational speech, sharing both motivating words and a brief history of the college.

In addition, contractual staff members each received Php 1,000 through the โ€œAdopt a Staffโ€ initiative, made possible by the generosity of the various departments.

The college also extends its heartfelt thanks to System President Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, for sponsoring sacks of rice, awarded as โ€œPlaques of Abundanceโ€ to all our staff members.

The college also deeply expresses its thanks to all the members of our Student Council and our department societies for helping to plan & organize the celebration and taking part in the various events.

This celebration truly demonstrated that the College of Social Sciences and Humanities is one in its goal to take the lead.

D-Day Sidlak is finally here. It waited for you as much as you waited for it.

As ice, fire, slime, lumpy space, and candy fight to arrive in the Land of Imagined Realities, remember to stand with your kingdom and give it everything youโ€™ve got.

Only one will hold the trophy.
Only one will wear the crown.

So wherever you stand in Oooโ€ฆ

Make it yours.

โ€œUnder the sub-theme, โ€œLead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!โ€, it reaffirms that womenโ€™s leadership is a fundamental part of Filipino identityโ€”just as in the time of the revered Babaylans, when women held influence and authority equal to men. It highlights the distinctive leadership qualities of Babaylans who were women leaders in pre-colonial Philippines (source: https://pcw.gov.ph/2026-national-womens-month-celebration/)โ€

As we commemorate the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution today, let us also reflect on its lessons and commit to uphold democratic values. In these times, the power of the Filipino people remains our greatest strength.
