👀𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲 "Empowering Communities Through Health Education and Compassionate Nursing Care"

As part of their Community Health Nursing exposure, the student nurses of 𝓜𝓪𝓹𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓲 𝓜𝓮𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓵𝓮𝓰𝓮,-𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓵𝓮𝓰𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓝𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟑 conducted a health teaching program in Barangay Sagonsongan, Area 7. with the theme "𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑼𝒔" the initiative aimed to promote health, prevent disease, and foster active community participation in health maintenance.

The program addressed key health priorities identified in the community through:

1. 𝘛𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 – Discussing the health risks of smoking and strategies for cessation
2. 𝘏𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 – Promoting early detection, lifestyle modification, and adherence to management
3. 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 – Teaching dietary practices, physical activity, and blood glucose monitoring
4. 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘺𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘦 – Demonstrating practices to reduce communicable diseases
5. 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 – Emphasizing the benefits and techniques of exclusive breastfeeding

This engagement demonstrated that nursing extends beyond hospital walls. It is rooted in prevention, education, and partnership with the community.

PDRRMO-Lanao del Sur joins the 2024 Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Lanao del Sur spearheaded the conduct of the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at the Municipality of Tamparan this morning.

The drill was made possible in partnership and participation of the Municipal Government of Tamparan, MDRRMO-Tamparan, Tamparan District Hospital, Tamparan Municipal Police Station, Tamparan Rural Health Unit, MSSD-Tamparan, Poona Bayabao Municipal Fire Station, Datu Palawan Disomimba Memorial National High School, Bureau of Fire Protection Lanao del Sur Provincial Office, Philippine Nurses Association-Lanao del Sur Chapter, and Mapandi Memorial College.

The drill at the Municipality of Tamparan was participated by the officials and employees of Tamparan Municipal Hall, personnel of Tamparan District Hospital, and faculty and students of Datu Palawan Disomimba Memorial National High School.

PDRRMO Conducts School-Based Fire Awareness and Earthquake Drill

In line with the Fire Prevention Month activities of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur and the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted a fire awareness and earthquake drill at Mapandi Memorial College in Marawi City on March 09, 2025.

The activity commenced with a lecture provided to nursing students, focusing on potential hazards such as earthquakes and fire incidents. The session also covered essential safety measures and fire suppression techniques. This was followed by a practical demonstration on fire suppression and the conduct of earthquake and fire drills.

The initiative aimed to enhance the awareness of students regarding fire prevention, safety protocols, and disaster preparedness, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively in case of fire or earthquake emergencies.

This month, series of earthquakes struck the province and fire incidents were also experienced that warrant proactive preparedness and response.

PDRRMO capacitates students of Mapandi Memorial College in Marawi City on disaster preparedness and response

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Lanao del Sur together with the Philippine Nursing Association-Lanao del Sur Marawi City Chapter provided Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support Training to nursing students of Mapandi Memorial College as part of the emergency preparedness and response program of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur to enhance the capacities of our communities in responding to emergency and disaster.

The training was held on October 28-29, 2024 at Mapandi Memorial College in Marawi City.

Standard First Aid and BLS for nursing students of Mapandi Memorial College

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur under the leadership of Governor Mamintal A. Adiong, Jr., provided a capacity building activity to nursing students of Mapandi Memorial College-Medical and Educational Center, Inc. in Marawi City.

The 3-day hands on training on “Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support” which was facilitated by trainers of PDRRMO on February 22-24, 2024, provided the students additional skills in responding and handling emergency situation applying first aid and some basic life support to save lives.

This is part of the initiatives and efforts of the Provincial Government through its Provincial DRRM Office to enhance capacities of communities and our constituents in attaining disaster preparedness towards a disaster-resilient province.

PDRRMO Conducts Disaster Preparedness Training for Future Nurses

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Lanao del Sur conducted a Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training for Level IV nursing students from Mapandi Memorial College. This activity was part of their academic requirement under the course NCM 121: Disaster Nursing, aimed at equipping future nurses with essential emergency response skills.

The training took place on April 13 in Barangay Timber, Municipality of Ditsa-an Ramain, and was led by the PDRRMO’s dedicated WASAR Team.

This initiative aligns with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur’s commitment to strengthening community resilience by empowering schools and local institutions with vital life-saving and disaster preparedness skills.

Look 👀 The amazing Mapandi Memorial College fourth-year nursing students namely Jalilah S. Macasindil, Anidah N. Balindong and Yasinah E. Managsa headed by Anniekha Tomawis-Mapandi accomplished during their school nursing exposure program at Sultan Conding Elementary School! 📚💙

As part of their training, over several days they conducted height and weight assessments for EVERY learner – from Kinder all the way to Grade 6 – to track growth and support health monitoring.

On their final day, they shared valuable health knowledge with the kids: a fun, easy-to-follow lesson on hygiene and proper handwashing for everyone, plus a caring, informative session just for the young girls about menstruation.

These future nurses are making such a meaningful difference in our community’s youth wellness!

👀 𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗞𝗔 | Ang Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) ng Lanao del Sur ay nagsagawa ng Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) training noong Abril 13 para sa mga nursing students mula sa Mapandi Memorial College. Pinangunahan ng WASAR team ng PDRRMO, ang pagsasanay ay nagbigay sa mga estudyante ng mga pundamental na teknik sa water rescue. 🚤

Ang inisyatibong ito ay naglalayong isama ang disaster response education sa mga akademikong programa at pataasin ang partisipasyon ng mga institusyon sa mga hakbang sa kahandaan sa kalamidad.
