Our 2 faculty members and 5 students from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management attended the 7th Tourism & Hospitality International Conference (THIC 2025) on December 11, 2025 at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Malaysia.

These delegates were also joined by fellow researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students from around the world to share insights on sustainable and innovative tourism and hospitality practices.

A huge thanks to the Mindanao State University administration, led by System President Atty. Paisalin P. Tago, CPA, for granting our CHTM team this opportunity that allowed our faculty and students to present emerging ideas, network with international partners, and benchmark our program against global trends in tourism and hospitality education. We also extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Mahid M. Mangontarun, Director of Mamitua Saber Institute of Research and Creation, for providing the essential funding through his office, which made this invaluable experience possible.

THIC 2025 focuses on the theme โ€œNavigating Change: Innovations for a Sustainable Future in Tourism and Hospitality,โ€ with tracks on entrepreneurship, tourism trends and strategies, regenerative tourism, food and beverage, and culinary arts. The program also includes an immersion trip on December 12, 2025, giving our participants first-hand exposure to innovative tourism and hospitality initiatives in Malaysia.

Truly, the college congratulates our participating faculty and students for showcasing our institution on this international stage and for contributing to conversations on sustainability and innovation in tourism.

Day 4 โ”‚ On December 4, 2025, The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management delegates in Manila continued their industry engagement with a productive visit to Hilton Manila, where they explored the hotelโ€™s facilities and met with key hotel representatives to discuss potential practicum opportunities for MSU-CHTM students, focusing on building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Another highlight of their visit was touring Hilton Manilaโ€™s Halal-certified kitchen and meeting the hotelโ€™s Halal chef, Chef Aminah Alonto.

Chef Aminah Alonto specializes in Asian Cuisine and Indo-Malay Cuisine. She had represented Marco Polo Cebu in the Cebu Goes Culinary competition and was featured in SunStar Cebu. She also served in the Asian Station at Marco Polo Cebu, gaining expertise in Asian cuisine. Currently, she is the Chef de Partie of the Halal Kitchen at Hilton Manila as she continues to refine her craft, striving not just to improve but to excel, and carries her Maranao identity with confidence as she rises in the culinary world.

Through this visit, the CHTM faculty gained practical insights on Halal standards, food safety, and culturally sensitive service for Muslim guests.

Once again, a sincere thanks to the MSU administration's support for the team to participate in this meaningful engagement aimed towards expanding practicum options, strengthening industry collaboration, and aligning the college's hospitality and tourism programs with global and faith-based practices for the benefit of its students and stakeholders.

Day 1 โ”‚ On December 1, 2025, five faculty members, along with our Dean Ainnie M. Gangco-Basman, from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Mindanao State University โ€“ Main Campus, Marawi City, had an inspiring experience during the first day of AAHRMEIโ€™s 25th National Annual Convention and Silver Jubilee Celebration at Casa Ibarra, Mall of Asia, Manila.

From the early morning registration and ribbon cutting to the powerful keynote on โ€œElevating Leadership in Hospitality & Tourism Education,โ€ the entire program was filled with meaningful conversations, fresh insights, and a renewed commitment to quality tourism and hospitality education.

Our six delegates had the opportunity to listen to national leaders from CHED, TESDA, and the Department of Tourism during the panel discussion on innovative and inclusive strategies for hospitality and tourism education, participate in the open forum, and witness the recognition of partners and awardees.

In the afternoon, the video presentation and the induction of new membersโ€”where one of our faculty members was officially welcomed into the associationโ€”further highlighted how AAHRMEI continues to grow as a dynamic community of educators and industry partners working together.

Heartfelt thanks to our MSU Administration, led by our dearest System President, Atty. Paisalin P. Tago, CPA, for generously allowing our faculty members to attend and actively participate in this convention. Their support enabled our delegates to learn, network, and bring home new ideas that will surely benefit our Tourism and Hospitality programs and, most importantly, our students. Hereโ€™s to more collaborative opportunities and to an equally meaningful Day 2!

๐ŸŒWorld AIDS Awareness Dayโค๏ธ

In hospitality and tourism, every connection we make becomes part of someoneโ€™s journey whether itโ€™s a smile, a welcome, or a simple act of care. Today, we extend that same commitment beyond our guests and into our communities.

Hospitality and tourism build connections now letโ€™s build awareness, compassion, and understanding. As we observe World AIDS Day, may we continue breaking stigma, sharing knowledge, and promoting a safer and kinder world for all.

Together, letโ€™s stand for awareness. Letโ€™s stand for humanity. โค๏ธโœจ
