Jerryk C. Alico, LPT, has been a faculty member of the MSU-Main Campus English Department since 2019, handling Art Appreciation, Purposive Communication, and major courses in English language and literature. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education, major in English (magna cm laude), completed the academic requirements for an MA in English Language Teaching, and is currently pursuing an MA in English Language. He served as a Special Assistant in various key offices in the University and is currently the Co-Chair of the Department’s Research & Publication Committee. He has also published and presented research papers internationally and serves as a peer reviewer in various international journals. He is currently a Special Assistant at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development.

Echo-Training on Policy Analysis and Policy Brief Writing, an initiative of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development, intends to capacitate and equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in analyzing policy issues, identifying and assessing policy options, designing workable policies, and translating research and development evidence into effective policy briefs.

Mohammad Nassef D. Ali is a University Research Associate at the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development, Mindanao State University–Main Campus, Marawi City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies from the same university, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was recognized as College Researcher of the Year, Department Researcher of the Year, and Department Academic Excellence Awardee, among other distinctions.

A three-time recipient of the Gawad Ongangen Research and Publication Recognition, he has actively engaged in scholarly writing. His work has been presented and published at research conferences, including the 16th Free Linguistics Conference, the 5th Linguistic Society of the Philippines International Conference, and the 9th Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Linguistics Conference. Prior to his current post, he served as a research and communication teacher at RC–Al Khwarizmi International College Foundation Inc.–Senior High School and held various leadership roles in academic, semi-academic, and community organizations. Recently, he completed the “From Research to Influence: Policy Analysis & Policy Brief Writing Training-Workshop” conducted by the Development Innovations and Policy Laboratory at the University of the Philippines Live Bañ̃os.

Sociology and Anthropology Department

Prof. Monalinda E. Doro is a full-time faculty member of the Sociology-Anthropology Department at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mindanao State University–Main Campus. She currently serves as the Department Research Coordinator. She obtained her Master of Arts in Anthropology from Xavier University–Ateneo de Cagayan, Cagayan de Oro City, in 2006, and her AB in Sociology from Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Iligan City, in 1999.

Prof. Doro has made significant contributions to the fields of peace education and sociology. She is a contributor of a manual in Fundamentals of Peace Education (FPE 101), a mandatory course to the undergraduate students throughout the MSU System. She also contributed to the development of Peace Education: Trainer’s Training Manual for Peace Teachers. In 2013, she was one of the lead researchers of EcoWEB Inc. for the research project Setting the Post-2015 Development Compass: Voices from the Ground. She also contributed to the book, Rido: Clan Feuding and Conflict Management in Mindanao, published by Ateneo de Manila University Press in 2014, through her research on Management and Resolution of Rido Among Meranao in Baloi, Lanao del Norte: Case Studies, also published by The Asia Foundation in 2007.

Dr. Grace Majorenos Taruc is an Associate Professor at Mindanao State University–Main Campus, where she currently serves as Research Coordinator and Chairperson of the Ethics Committee of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. She holds a Doctorate in Sustainable Development Studies, specializing in Sustainable Community Development, and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology, both as a grantee of the Philippine APEC Study Center Network–Thesis and Dissertation Assistance Program (PASCn-TDAP). She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology Cum Laude from the same institution.

Dr. Taruc is the sole author of the policy note “Promoting Food Security, Sustainable Livelihood, and Peace in Conflict-Ridden Communities,” published by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. Her research experience includes serving as Project Leader of the Vulnerability, Risk, Capacity Assessment in the Romain Sub-Watershed: A Community-Based Approach and as Project Staff in DOST-funded projects on endemic cyprinid conservation and antimicrobial resistance under the e1Net-AMR Program’s water-fish-human nexus and One Health approach. Her work integrates research, community perspectives, and development practice to generate evidence relevant to policy and program development.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED) extends its warmest felicitations to our very own Prof. Engr. Amierson Tilendo, MSc for receiving the Best Presenter Award for his research titled, “Optimization of Biopolymer Film from Starch–Chitosan–Carrageenan Blend Using Simplex-Lattice Mixture Design,” during the recently concluded Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) National Convention, held on September 16–18, 2026.

Engr. Tilendo previously served as Special Assistant to the OVCRED and is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering by Research at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). His recognition reflects not only his excellence in research and scholarly presentation but also his continuing commitment to advancing innovative and interdisciplinary research.

The OVCRED family takes immense pride in this achievement. Your excellence brings honor to Mindanao State University and contributes to its growing presence in the national research community.

All extension coordinators and project leaders of approved extension projects/activities internally funded by MSU-Marawi for CY 2026 are hereby invited to participate in this capacity-building activity, which will equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in analyzing policy issues, identifying and assessing policy options, designing workable policies, and translating research and development evidence into effective policy briefs.

The training is particularly relevant to extension personnel who work directly with communities, government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders. Their engagement with various sectors will position them to identify development issues that may require evidence-informed policy responses and translate these insights into actionable policy recommendations.

Mindanao State University–Marawi, through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED), has secured a corporate rate arrangement with Go Hotels Iligan, giving our employees access to special flat rates regardless of peak dates or the day of the week.

Under the arrangement, MSU employees may avail themselves of the corporate rate upon presentation of a valid MSU-Marawi ID upon check in.

Representatives from Mindanao State University–Marawi participated in the in-person Program Orientation and Monitoring of the DOST-PCIEERD-funded program, “𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗜𝗣 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀: 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴/𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱-𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗣 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀—𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀,” held at the College of Engineering of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology.

The orientation brought together representatives from MSU-Marawi and MSU-IIT, particularly from the respective Research Offices, Accounting, and Property Sections, as well as counterparts from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD). The activity focused on strengthening coordination among implementing institutions, clarifying program implementation and administrative requirements, and facilitating the effective management and monitoring of the funded research initiatives.

Faculty members from the MSU-Marawi College of Engineering led by Project 3 leader Prof. Susie E. Maestre alongside Prof. Sihawi A. Khalid, together with the project team participated in preparation for their project implementation. The participation of the MSU-Marawi in this research program highlights the University’s continuing engagement in advancing research and innovation in microelectronics and emerging technologies in Southern Philippines.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Annie Mae Berowa, together with the team from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development (OVCRED), attended the orientation, demonstrating the OVCRED's full support for the University’s research and development initiatives and the continuing efforts of the Office to strengthen externally funded research collaborations.
