The cadets took a break from the sun as they lined up to enter the MSU Dimaporo Gymnasium for their 4th Regular Sunday Formation held on 27 September 2026. Fundamental lessons on the legal basis of the Reserved Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and the organizational structure of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) were discussed to the young cadets.
Among the first of the lessons were the constitutional and statutory foundations of the ROTC program, which was spearheaded by ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ (๐๐๐), currently serving as the Dean of the College of Agriculture and ๐๐ ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐๐ซ ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก, ๐๐ (๐๐๐), an instructor from the MSU-University Training Center.
The first instructor who began the lecture session was ๐๐ ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐๐ซ ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก, ๐๐ (๐๐๐) who emphasized that ROTC is not a mere subject, but a preparatory training for college students to better equip themselves with skills such as disaster preparedness, emergency response, and crisis management, which are crucial for national defense and order.
It was immediately followed by ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ (๐๐๐) who furthered the discussion on the history, evolution, and importance of ROTC for cadets. He highlighted key events where military training and preparedness came in handy, such as during the British invasion of Manila where University of Santo Tomas (UST) students were mobilized to help defend the city against the invaders.
After a few minutes of break, the lecture resumed with the instruction of ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ (๐๐๐), who focused on the brief history, functions, and organization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The session was overseen by ๐๐ ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ณ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ (๐๐๐

. ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, NSTP Director. The support of ROTC Unit officers ensured the formation was orderly and effective. With the cooperation of everyone involved, the session proved to be successful and a job well done.
