Musuan, Bukidnon
Central Mindanao University strongly condemns the commotion that occurred on August 18, 2026, during its lawful and routinary land preparation activities at the Green Valley, CMU, Musuan, Bukidnon.
This routinary operation was conducted on University land and within our lawful mandate. The status of CMU's land is clear and settled. It is affirmed by Presidential Proclamation No. 476, upheld by the Supreme Court, and recently confirmed by the Regional Trial Court, which affirmed the Municipal Circuit Trial Court's ruling on a 2023 forcible entry case filed by CMU through the assisting lawyers from the Office of the Solicitor General.
The rule of law must prevail over disorder. No lawful activity of this University will yield to intimidation or force. CMU respects legitimate institutions and valid orders issued through proper legal and administrative processes.
However, the University cannot act on claims from any party without a final legal basis, or on assertions that have not been officially served to CMU. Due process requires proper notice, official communication, and strict compliance with procedure.
CMU calls on the Buffalo, Tamaraw, Limus, and MILFA (BTL-M) to allow the process to reach its lawful conclusion through appropriate legal and administrative channels, and not through actions that seek to pre-empt a decision on the ground. No party may prematurely assert rights over University land by obstructing lawful operations.
As a public university, CMU's lands and resources are held in trust for the present and future generations of students, researchers, and partner communities. Our mandate to educate, conduct research, and extend services must not be compromised.
CMU will pursue this matter, including seeking redress on the harm and damages done to its people and property, through proper legal channels. We will not be provoked into acting outside the law, nor pressured into surrendering our lawful interests through disorder and violence.
As an institution of higher learning, Central Mindanao University remains steadfast in upholding due process, institutional integrity, and the rule of law.
The University shall proceed accordingly.
