EL NIร‘O DOES NOT MEAN โ€œNO RAINโ€
El Niรฑo does not mean that the Philippines will experience zero rainfall.

Rain showers and thunderstorms can still occur, especially when weather systems such as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continue to affect the country.

According to the latest PAGASA forecast, localized rain showers and thunderstorms may still occur, even while the country is experiencing El Niรฑo conditions.

In fact, above-normal rainfall may still be experienced over the western sections of the Philippines due to the influence of the Southwest Monsoon. This is why some areas may continue to receive frequent rain despite the prevailing El Niรฑo conditions.

So, if you are wondering:
โ€œWhy is it still raining if we are under El Niรฑo?โ€

The answer is simple: El Niรฑo does not completely stop rainfall. Its effects are seen in the overall rainfall pattern and can vary depending on location, season, and other weather systems affecting the country.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ If you are currently experiencing rainfall, be thankful for it. Rainfall at this time can help provide water for communities, agriculture, and other needs.

However, as the โ€œberโ€ months approach, rainfall patterns may gradually change, and some areas could experience reduced rainfall and longer dry periods, depending on the evolution of El Niรฑo and other climate conditions.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ WHY THE โ€œBERโ€ MONTHS ARE IMPORTANT

As we move toward the latter part of the year, rainfall patterns may gradually change. The transition toward the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will be important to monitor, particularly because El Niรฑo may influence the country's overall rainfall distribution.

At the same time, the Philippines remains highly vulnerable to tropical cyclones. PAGASA reports that the country's peak typhoon season is generally July through October, with nearly 70% of tropical cyclones developing during this period.
Therefore, even during an El Niรฑo year, heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides, and damaging winds remain possible whenever tropical cyclones or enhanced monsoon conditions affect the country.

๐ŸŒ€ TYPHOON THREAT
During the โ€œBERโ€ months, residents should remain prepared for tropical cyclones that may enter or develop within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Areas in Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and parts of Mindanaoโ€”including the Caraga Regionโ€”should continue monitoring official forecasts, as tropical cyclones can bring significant rainfall and strong winds depending on their track and intensity.

BISAYA/CEBUANO VERSION

โ“ โ€œNGANONG NAG-ULAN MAN GIHAPON BISAN EL NIร‘O?โ€

๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Apan samtang nagkaduol ang โ€œBERโ€ months, posible nga mausab ang rainfall pattern.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Kusog nga pag-ulan
๐ŸŒŠ Pagbaha
Pagguho sa yuta
