IEP QUICK TIP FOR TEACHERS

An IEP is not simply a form that we need to complete. It should tell us:

What can the learner do now?
What are the learner’s priority needs?
What skills should we teach next? What strategies and accommodations will help?
✨ How will we know if the learner is improving?

Always remember: IEP goals should come from the learner’s actual present abilities and needs—not just from the learner’s diagnosis.

Every learner is different, so every IEP should be individualized, realistic, measurable, and functional. 🌈

SPED TEACHER TIP

A SPED lesson plan doesn't always have to look like a regular classroom lesson plan. Our learners have different abilities, needs, learning styles, attention spans, and ways of communicating, so our teaching strategies should respond to those differences too.

Visual supports, prompting, hands-on activities, repetition, movement, and differentiated activities can make learning more meaningful and accessible.

The goal is not simply to finish the lesson. The goal is for every learner to ACCESS, PARTICIPATE, and LEARN. 💙
