Today’s Contemporary Philippine Literature class took a different turn as students brought Pinikas to life through a mock election rally. Each group represented a character from the literary piece, presented their platforms, delivered campaign speeches, and convinced their classmates why they deserved to be elected.
Through literature, students do not only appreciate stories. They also examine the realities that shape our communities. This activity encouraged them to become critical readers and responsible citizens by looking beyond popularity and empty promises.
With the upcoming barangay elections, may this serve as an early reminder to know the candidates, examine their platforms, think before casting a vote, and exercise the right to suffrage wisely. Every informed choice matters.
