Cleansing my space — physically and energetically.

I regularly cleanse my spaces, especially the places where many different people come and go.

Sa isang café or restaurant, hindi lang naman customers ang pumapasok. Different moods, emotions, stress, conversations, and experiences also come and go with them. For me, part of taking care of a space is making sure that it gets a chance to reset.

Kaya aside from regular physical cleaning, I also do energetic cleansing using Palo Santo, sage, prayer, intention, and sometimes other forms of energy work.

Hindi ibig sabihin na lahat ng mabigat na feeling sa isang lugar ay something paranormal. Sometimes, it's simply the accumulated atmosphere of a busy space.

But whether you look at it spiritually or simply as a mindful practice, I believe there's value in intentionally resetting your environment.

A clean space feels different.
A grounded space feels different.
And when the energy of the people working in it is also taken care of, it creates a better environment for everyone.

As someone who practices Reiki and works with energy, this is something I don't only recommend to clients.

I practice it in my own spaces, too.

Clean the space.
Clear the energy.
Reset.
And begin again.

Not everything that feels heavy is spiritual.

Sometimes you're exhausted. Sometimes you're carrying stress. Sometimes you're processing emotions that haven't had the chance to settle.

And sometimes...

there is something deeper worth paying attention to.

Spirituality isn't about assuming every inconvenience is caused by negative energy. It's about learning to observe, reflect, and discern before jumping to conclusions.

Before reaching for a cleansing ritual, ask yourself:

• Am I physically and mentally exhausted?
• Have I been under unusual stress lately?
• Is this a repeating pattern that doesn't seem to have a practical explanation?

Discernment is one of the greatest spiritual practices.

And if you're finding it difficult to separate intuition from anxiety, or you're unsure what you're truly experiencing, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Our founders offer guidance through Tarot Reading, Oracle Reading, Palm Reading, Face Reading, Psychic Reading, and other divination practices designed to provide clarity, reflection, and direction.

Sometimes, the answer isn't another ritual.

Sometimes, what we need first is understanding.

Practice. Intention. Transformation.

She had already done the cleansing.

She had burned the herbs.
She had prayed.
She had released what no longer served her.
She had cut ties with the past and made peace with things she could no longer change.

And yet...

Nothing seemed to be happening.

The money wasn't coming as quickly as she hoped.
The opportunities felt slow.
The doors she was waiting for still hadn't opened.

For a moment, she wondered if she was doing something wrong.

But perhaps the lesson was this:

Cleansing creates space. It doesn't always tell you what to fill that space with.

Sometimes, after we clear away the old energy, we also need to become clear about what we're calling toward us.

What are you asking for?
What are you ready to receive?
And perhaps most importantly—are your actions moving in the same direction as your intentions?

Manifestation, for us, isn't about wishing and waiting.

It's about intention, alignment, action, and openness to opportunity.

Our Manifestation Oil is created as a spiritual tool to accompany that practice—to help you focus your intention, reinforce your personal ritual, and remind you of what you're consciously calling into your life.

Use it when setting intentions.
Anoint your candles or ritual tools.
Incorporate it into your personal practice.

But remember:

The oil is a tool.
Your intention is the direction.
Your actions are the movement.

And sometimes, what feels like "nothing is happening" is simply the quiet part of the process—where things are beginning to move in ways you cannot yet see.

The Function of the Babaylan in the Community

In ancient Philippine communities, the Babaylan was an important and respected leader. The Babaylan helped people in many ways. Both women and men could become Babaylans, although many were women. They worked with the datu, or village chief, to take care of the community.

One of the main jobs of the Babaylan was to lead religious rituals and ceremonies. They prayed for a good harvest, safe travels, healthy families, and protection from sickness. They also helped people honor their ancestors and follow their traditional beliefs.

The Babaylan was also a healer. They used herbs, traditional medicine, and their knowledge of nature to care for sick people. They gave advice to the community and helped people during difficult times.

Besides healing and leading ceremonies, the Babaylan helped preserve the culture and traditions of their people. They taught stories, beliefs, and customs to the younger generation so these traditions would not be forgotten. They were also trusted advisers who helped solve problems in the community.

In conclusion, the Babaylan played an important role in early Philippine society. They were healers, spiritual leaders, teachers, and advisers. Their work helped keep the community healthy, united, and connected to its traditions.

Manifestation is one of the most misunderstood practices in spirituality.

It isn't about wishing for something and waiting for the universe to do all the work.

Manifestation begins with intention.

It asks you to become clear about what you're working toward, align your actions with that goal, and remain open to the opportunities that come your way.

Our Manifestation Oil is traditionally used to accompany prayers, meditation, journaling, candle work, vision boards, and personal rituals. Many also use it when setting intentions for a new project, career path, relationship, or personal goal.

At Mystics' Circle, we believe that spiritual work supports the journey—it doesn't replace the effort. Your intentions guide the path, but your choices and actions help bring them into reality.

Available through Mystics' Circle.

Batak Dungan: A Necessity for Modern Times

Long ago, our ancestors believed that every person has a dungan, or spiritual life force. They believed that when the dungan became weak, a person could lose courage, feel troubled, or become more vulnerable to sickness and negative spiritual influences. Because of this, they practiced a sacred ritual called Batak Dungan to strengthen and restore the dungan. This belief continues in some Filipino spiritual traditions today.

Batak Dungan is more than a ritual. It is a reminder that people should care for both the body and the spirit. During the ritual, prayers, offerings, and sacred actions are performed with respect and devotion. These acts symbolize asking for guidance, protection, and renewed inner strength according to the tradition.

The ritual also teaches people to live with courage, discipline, respect, and gratitude. It reminds them to honor their ancestors, care for nature, and keep their spirit strong through good actions and sincere faith. These values are important not only in the past but also in modern life.

Today, many people face stress, fear, and uncertainty. Batak Dungan reminds us that inner strength is just as important as physical strength. Whether practiced as a cultural tradition or appreciated for its teachings, it encourages people to seek balance, wisdom, and resilience.

For these reasons, Batak Dungan remains meaningful in modern times. It preserves the wisdom of the ancestors while reminding each generation that caring for the spirit is an important part of living a complete and meaningful life.

Batak Dungan and the Original Meaning of the Word

Batak Dungan is a traditional healing ritual performed by a Babaylan, the spiritual leader and healer in pre-colonial Visayan communities. The ritual is believed to strengthen, restore, or awaken a person’s Dungan, especially when someone is weak, frightened, sick, or spiritually vulnerable. It is part of the indigenous beliefs of the Visayan people and reflects their understanding that a person’s spiritual strength is closely connected to their physical and emotional well-being.

The Original Meaning of Dungan

The word Dungan comes from the Visayan languages, particularly Hiligaynon and other central Philippine languages. In its oldest meaning, dungan refers to a person’s inner life force, spiritual power, courage, or soul-strength. It is more than just the soul. It is the spiritual energy that gives a person life, confidence, determination, and protection.

Traditionally, people believed that someone with a strong Dungan was brave, healthy, respected, and difficult to overcome. A person with a weak Dungan could become fearful, unlucky, easily frightened, or more vulnerable to illness and harmful spiritual influences. Because of this, strengthening the Dungan was considered important for maintaining a person’s overall well-being.

The word itself is also related to older Visayan ideas of support, accompaniment, and inner strength. In many traditional expressions, dungan can describe something that stands beside a person or gives them strength, which eventually became associated with a person’s spiritual power and life force.

What is Batak Dungan?

The word Batak means to pull up, lift, or raise in many Visayan languages. When combined with Dungan, the phrase Batak Dungan literally means “raising the Dungan” or “lifting the spiritual life force.”

The ritual is performed by a Babaylan to restore or strengthen a person’s Dungan. During the ceremony, the Babaylan may pray or chant sacred invocations while using symbolic objects such as fresh plants or a live chicken, depending on local tradition. These objects represent cleansing, healing, and the transfer of spiritual vitality. The ritual asks the ancestral spirits and benevolent unseen beings to bless, protect, and strengthen the person’s Dungan.

In traditional belief, newborn babies often received Batak Dungan because they were considered spiritually delicate and easily affected by illnesses, fear, or harmful influences such as usog. Adults could also undergo the ritual after serious sickness, emotional shock, frightening experiences, or other events believed to weaken their Dungan.

Cultural Importance

Batak Dungan reflects the indigenous Visayan belief that health is not only physical but also spiritual. The ritual emphasizes harmony between the person, the ancestors, the spirit world, and nature. Although many Filipinos today practice Christianity, knowledge of Batak Dungan remains an important part of preserving the history, traditions, and spiritual heritage of the Visayan people.

Today, Batak Dungan is valued not only as a traditional healing practice but also as a symbol of the rich indigenous culture of the Philippines. Studying and preserving these traditions helps modern generations better understand the beliefs and worldview of their ancestors.
