Happy World Mental Health Day!
Today, Oct 10, we celebrate World Mental Health Day.
Itโs amazing how far weโve come in shattering the stigma that has inhibited communities from gaining access to crucial mental health support.
But our work is not yet done.
Let us continue championing mental health as a touchstone of healthy communities and support wellness-driven initiatives across the globe.

How are you, College of Education Students? ๐
In light of the recent political protests, it's important to conduct self-checks to see how we're holding up. Surfacing emotions may differ from person to person, and it's alright.
We suggest conducting a quick self-check activity:
1. Acknowledge your emotions.
- Ask: "How do I feel right now"?
- Name your emotion
- Ask: Where is my emotion coming from?
- Check the pubmat on understanding difficult emotions and tips on how to manage it
2. Engage in activities that lessen negative emotions and promote positive emotions.
- Limit social media intake or interactions with certain people. If this is what is feeding your negative emotions, take a step back from it. - Keeping yourself updated about current events is good, but it's also important to take care of your psychological needs.
- Keep yourself productive. Do chores, engage in a positive hobby (journal, art, cook, exercise, read, tend to your plant), and interact with your pet.
- Take care of your physical needs - eat, sleep, hydrate. Remember that your physical needs affect your psychological well-being.
3. If you feel like your emotions are too difficult to handle on your own, get in touch with your go-to person (family, friend, significant other) and talk about how you're doing.
If, after doing this activity, you feel you need further processing through counseling, you may also schedule a session with your counselor upon resumption of work and classes.
If you are experiencing mental health concerns and require immediate support or medical assistance, please go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
