Pedro Guevara Elementary School, Scouting Unit joins the commemoration of National Flag Day.

May 28 was selected as the start of the National Flag Days as it is the anniversary of the Battle of Alapan. Filipino revolutionary forces under the overall command of General Emilio Aguinaldo, who returned from exile on 18 May 1898, defeated a large Spanish force at the field of Alapan, Imus, Cavite. In celebration of the victory, Aguinaldo unfurled and showed to the Filipino people for the first time the new National Flag made by Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo in Hong Kong at the Teatro Caviteño in Cavite City.
The new flag, which featured the red and blue fields with a white triangle superimposed by a sun with eight rays and three stars, would become the Flag of the Philippine nation and is the basis for our present-day standard.

Sa June 1-5, 2026 na may temang “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman.” Malugod po naming inaanyayahan ang lahat na makibahagi at sabay-sabay na magtulungan para sa ating paaralan.

“Kuya Yani, ba ang magsabit o magpakita ng watawat ng ibang bansa sa aking tahanan, tindahan, o negosyo?”

𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗶:

Hindi ang pagsasabit ng mga banyagang watawat dahil isa itong paraan ng pagpapahayag na siyang karapatang gawad sa atin ng Saligang Batas. Ngunit pinapaalalahan tayo ng Batas Republika Blg. 8491 (Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines) na dapat ay laging may Watawat ng Pilipinas sa kaliwang tabi (pananaw ng nagmamasid) o harapan ng watawat ng ibang bansa. Siguruhin din na pareho ang laki ng dalawang watawat, at magkasing-taas ang kanilang mga tagdan (o mas mataas ang sa Pilipinas). Ang mga paraang ito ang maglalagay sa Watawat ng Pilipinas sa place of honor kumpara sa mga banyagang watawat, at magpapakita ng kahigtan ng ating watawat at ng bansang kinakatawan nito.

Ang ipinagbabawal ng batas ay ang pagsabit ng anumang banyagang watawat lamang at walang Watawat ng Pilipinas, liban na lamang sa mga embahada, diplomatic establishments, at mga tanggapan ng mga internasyonal na organisasyon.

Invoking the Scout Oath as his guiding principle in public service, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Acting Secretary Kim Robert C. De Leon vowed to restore public trust in the country’s budget institution through integrity, accountability, and honest governance.

In his inaugural address before DBM officials and employees, the youngest Budget Secretary in Philippine history said his mission goes beyond keeping his personal record clean — but to help rebuild confidence in government and ensure that every peso entrusted to the State genuinely serves the Filipino people.

A former Secretary General of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Acting Secretary De Leon emphasized that the values of honor, discipline, and service have long shaped his leadership style, stressing that public office must always be anchored on trust, responsibility, and results.

“As a true blooded scout, I am guided by the Scout Oath—always and in all ways,” he said. “On my honor, I will do my best.”
