βI started out in DLSU as someone who had never even been to Taft nor seen what campus looked like. I was just this indoor kid who spent most of his time playing Valorant, watching Netflix, and doing my schoolwork. Traveling seemed like a far-fetched idea given that the pandemic just happened. To be honest, I was scared of breaking out of my comfort zone, choosing to stick to what I knew. When I discovered OC during one of its events, Iβll admit, I didnβt know what I was going into at first.
All I wanted was an org that would allow me to feel welcome enough to be myself around them and become my new circle of friends in this new environment, and thatβs exactly what OC was. They didnβt know me, neither did I, yet it felt like they were old friends I was reuniting with. Here, I met other people with various interests like hiking, cycling, camping, and even diving. It was crazy because I realized that maybe this was where I was meant to be. Sure, Iβm not a hiker (unless you count the stairs in Andrew), but it isnβt the destination that entices me, itβs the journey. Getting to that final point with my friends, breaking out of my shell and realizing how much more life has to offer, thatβs the dream right there.β
