Volcanic smog, or "vog," is a type of air pollution caused by volcanic emissions, primarily sulfur dioxide. It is harmful to your health, especially for people with respiratory conditions. Here are some safety tips to protect yourself from vog:

1. Stay Informed
- Monitor local air quality reports and volcanic activity updates.
- Pay attention to advisories from health and emergency management officials.

2. Limit Outdoor Activities
- Avoid outdoor activities, especially if air quality is poor.
- Stay indoors as much as possible when vog levels are high.

3. Keep Windows and Doors Closed
- Seal your home by closing windows, doors, and vents to keep vog out.
- Use air conditioning or air purifiers with HEPA filters if available.

4. Use Masks
- If you need to go outside, wear an N95 mask or similar to help filter out fine particles.
- Regular cloth masks may not be effective against fine particles from vog.

5. Stay Hydrated
- Drink plenty of water to help your body flush out irritants.

6. Protect Vulnerable Individuals
- Children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing respiratory or heart conditions should take extra precautions.
- Consider relocating temporarily if the vog levels are extremely high.

7. Avoid Smoking and Other Air Pollutants
- Smoking and burning candles or incense will intensify the effects of vog.

8. Seek Medical Attention if Necessary

As we welcome the academic year, let us be reminded of a few things. Here are 5 tips to start your year smoothly and create a good impression of yourself.

1. WEAR YOUR PROPER UNIFORM
How we dress shows how we present ourselves to others. Uniforms are worn to present our identity as Emilians, so it is important to wear our complete school uniform. This includes wearing our school ID and following proper haircut and hair color.

FAQ:
"I am a new student and I haven't availed our uniform. What must I wear to school?"

For new students, you may wear white collared shirt and slacks or jeans partnered with rubber shoes. Ripped jeans, croptop, slippers, and revealing clothes are prohibited.

2. BE RESPECTFUL
Greet the administrators, teachers, school staff, and your classmates sincerely. Treat them nicely and with respect if you want to be respected in return. Remember, respect begets respect.

3. DON'T BE LATE
Being on time is a way to show respect on somebody's time and effort. Do not be late in class and in submitting requirements.

4. MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Take the opportunity to know your classmates and create friendships that may last for a lifetime. Be approachable and wear your biggest smile.

5. ENJOY LEARNING
As students, our number one goal is to learn, but it doesn't mean that you have to pressure yourself. Stay on top of your studies, but also make time to relax and enjoy the experience. Together with our teachers and classmates, we can make learning fun and exciting. Surround yourself with the right people who can motivate and support you towards achieving your goals.

An esteemed celebration of community and interpersonal connections awaits. On December 2, 2023, the Community Outreach Office (COO) will host an outreach program entitled 𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲-𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱: 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴.

The goal of this program is to distribute food packs, hygiene kits, and other essentials to provide aid to various families in need, especially those affected by the recent fire in Brgy 846, Pandacan, Manila, and impoverished families residing in Plaza Rueda, Paco, Manila. To make this happen, the COO and affiliated organizations are currently requesting your support to donate whatever you can. Your contributions will play a crucial role in making this program successful and aligning with one of Emilians' core values: SERVICE

Manila City Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna has announced the suspension of all classes for today, August 31, Thursday.

This suspension applies to all levels in both public and private educational institutions for face-to-face and online classes. The decision comes in response to the recommendations from the Manila Disaster Risk Management, citing NCR Rainfall Advisory No. 2.
