On May 10, a devastating 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, resulting in 141 victims and at least nine confirmed fatalities, according to preliminary reports from emergency rescuers on-site.
The tremor triggered widespread panic and significant structural damage to several buildings within the university. Gusaling Bagatsing caught fire, prompting an urgent response from fire and rescue units. Gusaling Aquino and Gusaling Lacson sustained the most damage, with partial collapses that raised concerns of more victims trapped under debris. Other buildings sustained only minimal to moderate structural damage.
A total of 200 rescuers, including nurses, paramedics, and medical personnel were deployed and worked tirelessly to locate every victim and provide immediate medical care. Severely injured individuals were triaged and transported to Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) and Philippine General Hospital (PGH). Treatment units were also set up at the University Activity Center (UAC) for displaced students and faculty members.
Local government units with their disaster risk reduction teams have been activated to assist recovery efforts and further assess the safety of the university.
Disclaimer: This press release is only intended for the simulation of the Mass Casualty Incident of PLM Level IV Nursing students. The entire scenario is fictional, and no real injuries or casualties have occured.
