ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES, ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON AUGUST 20

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 131, government offices are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on August 20, 2026:

📍 Abra
📍 Benguet
📍 Ilocos Norte
📍 Ilocos Sur
📍 La Union
📍 Pangasinan
📍 Bataan
📍 Bulacan
📍 Nueva Ecija
📍 Pampanga
📍 Tarlac
📍 Zambales
📍 Batangas
📍 Cavite
📍 Laguna
📍 Rizal
📍 Occidental Mindoro

Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes and learning continuity measures at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers placed under alternative work arrangements shall be paid their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Mula rescue operations hanggang relief assistance, aktibo ang mga MDRRMO at katuwang na responders sa Apalit, Pampanga, Culasi, Antique, San Juan at Victoria sa Batangas, at Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro. Tinutulungan ang mga stranded na residente at motorista, isinasagawa ang search and retrieval at field assessment, at naipamamahagi ang food packs, hygiene kits, tool kits, family boxes, at roofing materials sa mga nangangailangang pamilya.

Agad na isinagawa ng Philippine Coast Guard ang evacuation, pumping, clearing, at rescue operations sa mga komunidad na apektado ng sa Lian, Lemery, at San Luis sa Batangas, gayundin sa Puerto Galera at Calapan City sa Oriental Mindoro.

Sa Lian, 104 indibidwal mula sa flood-prone areas ang ligtas na nailikas, habang inalis ang tubig-baha, debris, at iba pang nakaharang sa mga kalsada at waterways sa iba pang lugar upang mabawasan ang banta ng pagbaha at mapanatiling ligtas ang mga residente.

Naipapaabot ang iba’t ibang tulong ng DSWD sa mga pamilyang apektado ng sa MIMAROPA, La Union, Pampanga, Quezon City, Cordillera, at Bulacan, mula sa food packs at ready-to-eat food hanggang hygiene at kitchen kits at cash assistance.

Kasabay ng relief distribution, inihahanda rin ang karagdagang suplay, isinasagawa ang assessment para sa financial assistance, at direktang inaalam ang pangangailangan ng mga evacuee at pamilyang naapektuhan upang maihatid ang angkop na suporta.

As part of the Administration’s commitment to bringing government assistance closer to communities, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the turnover of financial assistance to Presidential Scholars during a ceremony at the Talay Gymnasium in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on August 17, 2026.

During the event, President Marcos Jr. meets with 15 Presidential Scholars representing 250 recipients from Dumaguete City, Valencia and Bacong in Negros Oriental. Each scholar receives Php20,000 in financial assistance from the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF).

Complementing this initiative, he personally inspects the ongoing distribution of 10 kilos of rice to beneficiaries under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) Rice Assistance Program. A total of 2,230 beneficiaries comprising farmers, fisherfolk, vendors, laborers and other low-income earners will receive 10 kilos of rice every two (2) months or six (6) times a year to help ensure food security among vulnerable sectors.
