TEACH for Tomorrow

TEACH for Tomorrow Changing the future…that’s what it was about when we conceptualized TEACH for Tomorrow an outreach le It sounds big and lofty, but really, it’s not.

Changing the future…that’s what it was about when we conceptualized TEACH for Tomorrow (Teaching Educators and ChildrenHow), an outreach learning program. At the heart of TEACH for Tomorrow is the desire to reach out to children who have already given up on themselves, change their experiences, and allow them to build stronger foundations for a better future. It aims to equip these kids, while als

o training their teachers, so that they too can sustain and continually support the growing confidence and love for learning that these children are developing. TEACH for Tomorrow takes into account each child’s holistic development and in still in them deep rooted values that are anchored on paying it forward. We started with one public school in the Philippines. We touched base with 50 non-reading third graders and showed them how fun it is to actually read. We helped them face their fears and allowed them to discover how manageable the lessons really were. We followed up this activity with Teacher Training Sessions that would equip the teachers with new strategies that will help them address their children’s needs better. We culminated our pilot out reach with relevant donations that will ensure the continuity of what we started. Our pilot outreach ended with hugs, a couple of tears and heart felt thank you’d. Our day ended with the kids and teachers equally empowered and excited. I recently spoke to the head of the school. She expressed how much the children’s attitudes have changed drastically. She went on to share anecdotes of how the children have been pouring over the books we donated. She ended by asking for more opportunities to learn. “You see,” she said, “we never learned these in college.”

Hearing those words, who would ever want to stop helping out? There are more schools to go, more children to teach, more teachers to train. There are so many experiences these children can benefit from. There are so many bodies of truth and knowledge that teachers can use to help address their students’ needs better. Sadly, they do not have the luxury of time, resources, and manpower. So that’s where we’re putting ourselves at. With whatever limited resources we have, we commit to teaching kids, even if it means our weekends sacrificed. With whatever limited resources we have, we commit to sharing with the teachers, so they too can enjoy teaching again. With only ourselves and a handful of supporters, we commit to preparing materials, cutting and laminating them carefully, sorting and organizing them for immediate use, so all these children will have the full advantage of experiential education, not just traditional means. We have quite a feat ahead of us, but we’re not daunted. In fact, we find ourselves very excited. We’re more than up for the challenge, because we believe that every child we encounter is one future made better. We believe that every teacher we train is anexponential number of children with better tomorrows. TEACH for Tomorrowis a commitment in changing futures, changing lives and making a difference, one child, one educator at a time.

My birthday month is just around the corner. To celebrate this year, I am hoping to adopt 2 public school classrooms that work on remedial reading. I am hoping to equip each room with a comprehensive supply of reading materials, train over 30 teachers for 6 whole days, and have a “Kaya Kong Magbasa!” event for the kids. I can’t do this alone, and will need all the help I can get. Please, help me make a difference? ☺

There are several ways to help. You can help me by raising funds, donating supplies, or helping fill up our kids’ goodie bags with reading stuff. ☺

For the materials, I am hoping to give each room an alpabasa set, plus other things they need to make their rooms, more conducive to learning how to read. I plan to build learning centers filled with toys that build reading fluency. To make this happen, I am trying to raise 70k ++. I know it’s a lot, but with your help, it is doable. I will break down the sets, you can choose to sponsor one part or more! :)

Kilos at Kanta (Red Set) PhP 3,640 / classroom
Titik at Tunog (Orange Set) PhP4,855.00 / classroom
Bibong Bokabularyo (Yellow set) PhP 2,635 / classroom
Letrang Karera (Green Set)PhP 4,980 / classroom
Pagpapantig (Blue Set) PhP 3,395 / classroom
Sari Saring Titik (Purple Set) PhP 2,325 / classroom
Salitang Pantulong (Pink set) Php1,765 / classroom
Mga Kuwento ng Alpabasa Php4,405/ classroom
Classroom Set Up P 8,000 / classroom

I am also hoping to ask for your help in training. You can sponsor a teacher for 5k each. I will be training 30 teachers over a period of 6 whole days. Each training will focus on how they can help their children learn better. We will cover how the brain learns how to read, pre-requisites of reading, making reading stick, and strategies to help struggling children learn how to read.

You can also help by donating books, school and art supplies, and soooo much more. ☺ These will go either inside the children’s reading bags or inside the classrooms.

There really is a need to help equip our teachers and classrooms so they can help our kids learn better. Please message me if you’re interested. ☺ Thank you!

Hi again friends! :) i'm trying to look for sponsors for 3 public school teachers for a training series on speech. You, or people you know may want to contribute. They'll be trained for 2 sessions and will be receiving teaching materials they can use in their classes already.

2 of the 3 teachers are really good, and are movers and shakers in their respective schools. they have initiative and are more than passionate about helping their kids :)So there, incase you know of anyone who would want to help, please let me know. smile emoticon Each teacher is 5800. So i'm trying to raise the total amount, a few hundreds at a time:)

The last of the 3 teachers is a grade 1 teacher in one of the poorest public school areas. He has difficulty in working with sounds, making it even harder for him to teach his kids. None of his first graders can read. I am hoping to help him in both speech and teaching kids how to read, so I am hoping to raise more funds for him. I will be mentoring him and visiting him in payatas on a regular basis, as well as committing to helping him improve and grow in his confidence inside his own classroom too. I hope to provide him with more materials for his classroom, and if God wills it, a complete alpabasa set. :)This is a long term commitment, I am hoping to really sustain.
Please, please, please, I want to give these teachers a fighting chance at helping their students succeed. Help? Thank you
