HIS VISION, OUR CONTINUING STORY

A vision planted 126 years ago continues to grow in every Nationalian.

The Institute of General Education (IGE) joined the National University community in celebrating the University’s 126th Founding Anniversary and honoring its founder, Don Mariano Fortunato Jhocson.

Through a Thanksgiving Mass and a wreath-laying ceremony at his monument, the NU community remembered the man whose vision laid the foundation for generations of learning, service, and achievement.

His chapter may have begun the Nationalian story, but his vision continues to be written through every dream pursued, every life transformed, and every Nationalian who chooses to serve the nation.

From his vision came a lasting legacy—and the story continues with us.

IGE STRENGTHENS ITS RESEARCH CULTURE

The Institute of General Education successfully conducted its Research Orientation on July 29, 2026, with the theme: “Research. Collaborate. Innovate: Together for Institutional Excellence”

The orientation was led by Mr. John Trixstan S. Ignacio, Research Coordinator of the Institute of General Education. It provided IGE faculty members with valuable information on the University’s research guidelines, policies, incentives, and opportunities for internal and external grant funding.

More than an orientation, the activity encouraged stronger collaboration and active participation in research initiatives within the Institute. It marked another meaningful step toward building a more engaged and innovative research community at IGE.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the activity!

PAGKAING PINOY 2026!

Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2026, tampok sa Pagkaing Pinoy 2026 ang iba’t ibang pagkaing sumasalamin sa mayamang kasaysayan, tradisyon, at pagkakakilanlan ng mga rehiyon at pangkat etnolingguwistiko sa Pilipinas.

Ang gawaing ito ay pinangungunahan ng Komite sa Pagkaing Pinoy 2026 ng CEAS–IGE. Ang mga g**o mula sa bawat programa at yunit ay maghahanda at magtatanghal ng pagkaing kumakatawan sa kanilang nakatalagang rehiyon. Ibabahagi rin nila ang pinagmulan at kahalagahang pangkultura nito sa pamamagitan ng isang malikhaing presentasyon sa wikang Filipino.

General Education Student Reminders | First Term, AY 2026–2027

Classes are about to begin, Nationalians! 💛💙

Before your General Education (GE) classes start, take a few minutes to review these important reminders:

✅ Check your NUIS regularly for updates on your schedule and classroom assignments.
✅ Know your Face-to-Face (F2F) classroom. GE subjects follow a hybrid setup, so always check whether your class is online or on campus.
✅ Prepare your Microsoft Teams account to ensure you can access your online classes and announcements.
✅ Attend your Class Orientation on time. This is where your professors will discuss course requirements, grading policies, class rules, and other important expectations.

A great start begins with being prepared. We look forward to welcoming all General Education students this First Term!

Meet the Institute of General Education Department Heads for A.Y. 2026–2027! 💛💙

The Institute of General Education proudly introduces its academic leaders for Academic Year 2026–2027, headed by Associate Dean Jemma M. Gonzales, and our Department Heads, who will lead their respective departments in advancing the quality of General Education and supporting our faculty and students.

We also warmly welcome Ms. Alyana E. Co as the new Department Head of the Science and Mathematics Department. We wish her success as she begins this new leadership role.
