The IGE Lecture Series: “Speak Gen Z, Teach Inclusively” was successfully conducted on April 29, 2026, bringing together educators committed to understanding today’s learners and creating more inclusive classrooms.

Through the insightful discussions of our speakers, participants gained a deeper appreciation of how communication evolves—and how we, as educators, must evolve with it.

This lecture series is a testament to IGE’s commitment to responsive, inclusive, and student-centered education.

A Legacy of Valor: The Eternal Nationalian Spirit

In the halls of National University, we often speak of an "Education that Works." On April 9, 1942, that education transcended the classroom and became a shield for a nation in its darkest hour.

Today, we stand in silent tribute to five of our own—Nationalians who traded their books for bayonets and their graduation robes for the uniform of the brave. As they endured the grueling miles of the Bataan Death March, they carried with them the grit, resilience, and unwavering integrity that define our blue and gold.

We honor the names and the ultimate sacrifice of:

The faculty members of the Institute of General Education of National University once again demonstrated that education extends far beyond the classroom walls. In the recently concluded Happy Walk 2026 for Down Syndrome, organized by SM Cares on March 29, 2026 at SMEX Convention Center. Our IGE educators proudly stood in solidarity with individuals with Down syndrome and their families championing inclusion, awareness, and compassion in action.

More than just a walk, this meaningful initiative reflects the university’s enduring commitment to holistic education, one that nurtures not only the intellect but also empathy and social responsibility. Each step taken symbolized a shared vision: a society where diversity is embraced, voices are heard, and every individual is valued.

The presence of IGE faculty in this nationwide movement highlights their role as catalysts of change, educators who inspire not only through teaching but through active community engagement. Their participation embodies the true essence of “Education that works”transformative, inclusive, and deeply human. 💙💛

𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔, 𝑰𝒕 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒔

The recently concluded IGE Lecture Series: Connecting Disciplines provided valuable insights into the importance of meaningful and contextualized learning.

The sessions emphasized that students are more likely to retain knowledge when learning goes beyond memorization and becomes relevant, connected, and grounded in real-life experiences and local contexts.

Moreover, education should not be limited to the development of technical skills. It plays a crucial role in shaping individuals who understand their values, identity, and role in society.

The lecture series also underscored the need to move beyond routine thinking by encouraging learners to question, reflect, and engage in deeper sense-making.

Ultimately, the discussions reinforced the idea that education is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about developing an understanding that allows learners to make sense of the world.

The Institute of General Education invites all IGE faculty members to join a Professional Development Seminar on interdisciplinary teaching and learning. With the theme “Connecting Disciplines: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Teaching and Learning,” this session will focus on practical ways to connect different subjects and improve student learning.

This seminar is organized by the Professional Development Committee, with speakers from the IGE Social Sciences and Philosophy Department—Asst. Prof. Angelo Payad, Asst. Prof. Hermenegildo Mondigo, and Asst. Prof. Renz Villacampa—who will share their insights and teaching practices.

The seminar will be held on March 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM via MS Teams.
