𝙍𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙡: 𝙋𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙣, 𝙄𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙝𝙖𝙮 𝙉𝙜𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙣.

December 30 is a legal holiday in the Philippines to commemorate the life, work, and death of the Filipino patriot Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Today marks the 127th anniversary of Rizal’s ex*****on at Bagumbayan, Manila, in 1896.

Rizal played a key role in starting the revolution against the Spanish colonists. Rizal was a doctor and a novelist born on June 19, 1861, in Calamba, Laguna. In his novel “Noli me Tangere” published in 1887, he condemned the corrupt rule of the Spaniards. Many historians agree that the ideas he raised in that novel and “El filibusterismo” (Reign of Greed), inspired the revolution.

He was detained and put on trial for treason and was later put to death by a firing squad on December 30, 1896, at Bagumbayan Field.

Rizal represents the values of patriotism, nationalism, and peaceful resistance. His life and works continue to inspire generations of Filipinos to strive for a just and equitable society and serve as a reminder of the importance of education in promoting social progress and national development.

The College of Nursing Student Council Executive Committee and Subcommittee participated in the collected effort of packing and distributing donations consisting of food, water, hygiene kits, and slippers last December 14, 2023, to the street dwellers of Mendiola, Manila.

The main goal of this advocacy is to share light and hope with the people in the community. A way to influence more people to appreciate the value of giving blessings to others. The project was concluded with a harmonious camaraderie and a core life lesson of finding joy and contentment in the happiness of others.

Universal Health Care (UHC), also referred to as Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (KP), is a government mandate that aims to provide affordable and quality health benefits to every Filipino. This involves ensuring adequate resources such as health human resources, health facilities, and health financing.

The goal of UHC is to provide the highest possible quality of healthcare to every Filipino, which is accessible, efficient, equitably distributed, adequately funded, fairly financed, and appropriately used by an informed and empowered public. This information has been provided by the Department of Health in 2023.

The Philippines has been taking steps towards achieving universal health care through the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act. This act was signed into law in February 2019 to provide all Filipinos with equal access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

The successful implementation of universal health care in the Philippines requires continuous efforts, adequate funding, and effective coordination among various stakeholders. The government, along with relevant agencies and partners, is responsible for monitoring the progress and addressing challenges to achieve the goals set out in the UHC Act.

To raise awareness on the importance of diagnosing, treating, and preventing Ear, Nose, and Throat disorders, we observe the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Consciousness Week every year from December 3–9. Our everyday activities such as speaking, breathing, tasting, smelling, and hearing — all depend heavily on our ears, nose, and throat. Unfortunately, there are times when these vital organs are being disregarded and are not being given the necessary attention which can lead to a number of health problems.

ENT charities can be supported, community events can be attended, and ENT health awareness can be raised during ENT Consciousness Week. To maintain the health of our throat, nose, and ears, we must take proper care of them.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧 | 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

Project CONtribusyon 2023, initiated by the SBU CON - Student Council, is a donation drive that aims to give assistance and gifts to street children and street dwellers in Mendiola, Manila. As we celebrate the joyous Christmas season, we see the need to share the blessings we receive with the people in our community with the hopes and aspirations that this Christmas will be meaningful and memorable for them.

We have received 𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻-𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀. The student council officers will hand out donations on a scheduled date.

Again, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to everyone who joined us in our project for the community. We will continue to update and document all the distribution of the donations.

The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) commemorates on the 3rd of December, that was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly.

In a realm where diversity is the heartbeat of humanity, we stand united in recognizing the extraordinary individuals whose narratives are shaped by resilience, courage, and unwavering spirit. Beyond the perceived limitations lie stories of triumph and the pursuit of dreams against all odds. Each person with a disability is a testament to the limitless potential within us all.

A disability is never an indication of any form of weakness. Disabled people always deserve to be respected, honored, and loved. Let us be more responsible and aware of people with disabilities by recognizing and acknowledging them with extra care.

This is a crucial time for aspiring nurses, filled with a range of emotions from nervousness to excitement. They have put in months or even years of intense preparation, studying diligently to enhance their knowledge and skills. The release of the PNLE results is a moment of triumph - signifying the culmination of their hard work and dedication.

As the night sky unfolded its velvety canvas, our university transformed into a realm of enchantment during the grand Christmas Lighting. A symphony of twinkling lights illuminated the campus, weaving a fascinating glow of pathway that captured the essence of the holiday season.

Warm and joy echoed through the air as the Bedan Community gathered in the embrace of the rejoicing spirit. This annual tradition not only illuminates our physical surroundings but also serves as a beacon, guiding us through the darker nights and reminding us that, together, we can overcome any challenge. It's a celebration of the power of unity and grace that blooms when we come together in the soul of love and goodwill.
