The UST Civil Engineering Department participated a demonstration and training on the newly installed materials testing equipment at Laboratory 7, UST Roque Ruaño Building, today, August 13, 2026.

The training, hosted by Siccion Marketing, Inc., featured the use of Multitest Software and various testing applications, including compression testing of concrete cylinders and cement mortars, flexural testing of concrete beams, and tensile testing of steel rebars.

The session also covered basic equipment maintenance, precautions, and proper testing procedures, strengthening the department’s capacity to provide hands-on and industry-relevant laboratory training for its students.

Congratulations, Assistant Dean Doc Ryan!

The UST Department of Civil Engineering proudly congratulates Asst. Prof. Ryan A. Ramirez, PhD on his appointment as Assistant Dean of the UST Faculty of Engineering for Academic Year 2026–2027.

From his dedicated service as Chairperson of the Department of Civil Engineering to taking on a new role in the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ramirez continues to demonstrate his commitment to academic excellence, meaningful service, and the advancement of the Thomasian engineering community.

His leadership at the department level has helped strengthen the Civil Engineering program and foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and service. UST Department of Civil Engineering Holds Annual Strategic Planning, Curriculum Review, and Team Building

The UST Department of Civil Engineering successfully held its 2.5-day Annual Strategic Planning, Curriculum Review, and Team Building at Lab 6-2, Roque Ruaño Building, led by outgoing Department Chairperson Asst. Prof. Ryan A. Ramirez, PhD.
To set strategic goals for A.Y. 2026–2027, faculty members evaluated departmental performance and conducted CRS (Challenges, Risks, Strategies) analyses across student, faculty, and infrastructure domains. The team also revisited its outcomes-based education (OBE) framework to ensure alignment with local and global standards.

The event featured collaborative team-building activities that fostered camaraderie and department cohesion. The Department thanks all participating faculty for their dedication to academic excellence and continuous quality improvement.

The UST Department of Civil Engineering proudly congratulates Asst. Prof. Ryan A. Ramirez, PhD, and Asst. Prof. Shikara P. Jose, MSc, on receiving the Cardinal Ceferino Gonzales Award for Indexed Publications for Academic Year 2024–2025.

This esteemed university award honors faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional research productivity through published outputs in premier journals and book series indexed by Scopus and Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science.

Successful Conclusion of the UST-UAJY Geotechnical Lecture

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of our special online academic lecture, “Bridging Theory and Innovation in Geotechnical Practice,” held today, July 18, 2026. A sincere thank you to our guest speakers, Asst. Prof. Luky Handoko, Dr. Eng., and Asst. Prof. Vienti Hadsari, PhD, for their transformative insights. This collaborative effort between the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY), and the UST Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) successfully united our communities to advance the future of geotechnical engineering.

Following the lecture, we held an exclusive meeting to fortify our international partnership. A key highlight was the formal introduction of the new leadership of the UST Department of Civil Engineering to the leadership of UAJY’s Department of Civil Engineering. We look forward to this new chapter of continued collaboration and shared academic growth.
