CAMPUS SAFETY AND SECURITY ADVISORY: HEIGHTENED SECURITY MEASURES TO BE IMPLEMENTED STARTING AUGUST 25, 2026

In light of the recent reported security incidents across different schools in the country, Mapúa University is taking proactive, preventive steps to ensure our campuses remain safe, secure, and nurturing environments for everyone.

Beginning August 25, 2026, we will be implementing heightened safety and access control measures across all campus entry points. While these steps are purely precautionary, they will involve minor adjustments to our daily routines. We ask for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to protect our Mapúan community.

What students, employees, and visitors should expect at the gates and within the campus vicinities?

- Strict No ID, No Entry Policy: Please wear your valid University ID at all times inside campus premises and tap in/out at designated turnstiles. Lending, borrowing, altering, or misusing another person’s ID is strictly prohibited. Any person without proper identification may not be allowed to enter the campus or may be subjected to added verification before being allowed entry.

- Visual Identity Checks: Security personnel may request the temporary removal of face masks, helmets, hoods, or sunglasses at entry points for identity verification. Medical and religious articles will be accommodated respectfully.

- Thorough Inspection: Enhanced and appropriate inspection of bags, packages, and vehicles will be conducted at all gates and parking entrances, in accordance with University policy. Strictly “No Car Sticker, No Entry.”

- Increased Guard Presence & Monitoring: Expect more security personnel conducting rounds across hallways, buildings, and common areas, alongside continuous CCTV monitoring.

- Visitor Registration: All guests and suppliers/vendors must register at designated security posts and wear official visitor passes at all times.

Important Reminders:

- Students and employees must comply with all University safety and security procedures.

- Everyone is encouraged to plan ahead and arrive at the campuses earlier to account for brief queues during peak entry hours.

- Immediately report suspected threats and security concerns to the University’s Security Team.

- Remain vigilant without creating unnecessary alarm. Avoid spreading rumors, unverified reports, or other information that may compromise an ongoing security response.

- Participate in emergency drills or security orientations.

Security is a shared responsibility and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our Mapúan community a safe and conducive learning environment for all.

In line with the initial discussions on possible 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 between the University Student Government (USG), the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and other sectors of the University Administration, the 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 (𝐄𝐕𝐏𝐀𝐀) has released a memorandum providing academic accommodations and considerations for students affected by the recent weather-related disruptions and class suspensions. As part of the Central Student Council’s commitment to 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 and keeping the student body properly informed, we are sharing the key provisions of the memorandum with the Mapúan community.

Under the memorandum, deadlines for outputs and course requirements assigned during 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝟏 𝐭𝐨 𝟑, including those under Module 1, shall be set no earlier than Week 8. Students who enrolled during the extended enrollment period shall likewise be given reasonable time to complete lessons, activities, and requirements missed prior to their official enrollment or access to Blackboard. Faculty members are also expected to ensure that course materials and appropriate supplementary learning resources remain accessible through Blackboard.

The memorandum further provides for 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in matters involving attendance, deadlines, and other academic requirements affected by class suspensions and weather-related circumstances, including flooding, power interruptions, and connectivity issues.

The CSC encourages all students to carefully review the advisory, remain informed through official University channels, and communicate with their instructors whenever necessary. As our community continues to recover and move forward, may we continue to extend 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 to one another while ensuring that the concerns and circumstances of every Mapúan are heard and considered. ❤️💛
