As the rainy season brings persistent downpours and flooded streets, Mary Chiles College reminds all students, faculty, and staff to stay vigilant against Leptospirosis.

Keep these safety steps in mind to protect yourself:

🚫 Avoid wading in floodwaters.

👢 Use protective gear (rubber boots and gloves) if passing through floods is unavoidable.

🧼 Wash thoroughly with soap and clean water immediately after any flood exposure.

🌡️ Watch for symptoms like fever, headache, and muscle pain.

If you experience symptoms after flood contact, consult a medical professional or visit the school clinic immediately.

In accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 131 issued by the Office of the President, SHS and College classes will implement alternative learning modes tomorrow, August 20, 2026, due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES, ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON AUGUST 20

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 131, government offices are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on August 20, 2026:

📍 National Capital Region (NCR)
📍 Abra
📍 Benguet
📍 Ilocos Norte
📍 Ilocos Sur
📍 La Union
📍 Pangasinan
📍 Bataan
📍 Bulacan
📍 Nueva Ecija
📍 Pampanga
📍 Tarlac
📍 Zambales
📍 Batangas
📍 Cavite
📍 Laguna
📍 Rizal
📍 Occidental Mindoro

Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes and learning continuity measures at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers placed under alternative work arrangements shall be paid their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

In accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 127 and due to the continued threat of severe weather conditions, classes at all levels are suspended today, August 17, 2026.

Faculty members may exercise discretion in conducting online classes or alternative learning arrangements, as appropriate.

All MCC offices will be closed starting at 1:00 PM. Students and personnel are advised to prioritize their safety and stay updated through the official Mary Chiles College channels.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Following the announcement of the Manila City Government, there will be no face-to-face classes for Senior High School today, Monday, August 17, 2026.

Classes will shift to Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) / Online Learning due to the expected heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Please coordinate with your respective teachers for further instructions.

: Upon recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD), I am ordering the suspension of classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School (SHS) in public and private schools on Monday, August 17, 2026, due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) expected to bring cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate, at times heavy rainfall over the city.

Schools are advised to shift to ADM or Alternative Delivery Mode.
