AFP, PNP; SALOT, TALAGANG SALOT, KASALOTSALUTAN!

On April 19, 2026, the PUP Institute of Technology Student Council conducted its 8th meeting onsite at CHN Cafe. The session began with disposition checks among officers, followed by discussions on current political issues, including the U.S. war of aggression against Iran. Committee reports were presented, along with key student concerns such as the rising heat index, midterm examinations, room assignments, implementation of online classes, grading issues, untagged professors, graduation matters, and ID revalidation.
The council also reviewed liquidation updates from recent events and projects, as well as the revalidation of each officer. Plans for upcoming events were discussed alongside SCA-related matters and internal concerns within the council. The meeting aimed to address both organizational responsibilities and pressing student issues in a timely and coordinated manner.

LOOK | PUP ITECH SC JOINS COORDINATION MEETING ON STUDENT COUNCIL FUND UTILIZATION AND PRE 2027 DIRECTIONS
The PUP ITECH Student Council officially participated in the Coordination Meeting on Student Council Fund Utilization and Pre-2027 Directions, represented by Hon. Kent Daryl Escauso. The session, presided over by PUP Student Regent Michael Troy C. Cabangon and OSR Finance Committee Head Ma. Ellaiza C. Tiu, served as a primary platform to synchronize financial practices and address the systemic challenges currently facing student-led fiscal management across the university.
At the heart of the discussion was a comprehensive review of the current status of student council funds and the identification of existing gaps in financial processes. These deliberations are fundamental to the development of a unified Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), which aims to provide a standardized framework for fund utilization. By streamlining these procedures, the assembly seeks to ensure that every centavo of the student fund is handled with the highest level of efficiency and transparency, directly shaping the Program and Receipts Expenditure (PRE) 2027 initiatives and formulating strategic directions for the upcoming terms.
Alongside these primary objectives, the meeting also touched upon localized operational concerns, such as the challenges in securing a Special Disbursing Officer (SDO) and the projected price hikes for venue rentals at the PUP Main Campus. The council discussed the potential impact of these issues, identifying the necessary adjustments and contingencies that will be required should the price hike resolution be implemented in the near future.

LOOK | The PUP Student Council Assembly (SCA) officially submitted a demand letter today to the University Administration, asserting urgent student demands amid extreme heat conditions and long-standing infrastructure neglect.
Amid intensifying heat and decades of state neglect, nearly 7,000 Iskolars ng Bayan expose the daily reality inside the university: overcrowded and poorly ventilated classrooms, defective and insufficient electric fans, limited access to water and cooling spaces, and learning environments that endanger both health and dignity. Students report dizziness, headaches, fatigue, and declining capacity to focus and participate, especially during peak heat hours, yet rigid schedules and inconsistent adjustments persist. These conditions are not isolated. They are the direct result of chronic underfunding, neglect of education, and the failure to invest in safe and humane learning spaces.
While many students demand flexible learning, not all can fully shift online due to required in-person academic work. Students should not be forced to choose between their health and their education, nor should they be made to adjust to conditions that are fundamentally unsafe.
In unity, the SCA advances the following demands: suspend mandatory full face-to-face classes policy, lift uniform policies that worsen heat stress, allow colleges to adjust examination schedules based on actual conditions, review and implement leniency in EO 12, s. 2025, and immediately convene a dialogue between student councils and the administration to address classroom conduciveness and campus conditions.
These calls go beyond temporary relief. They are a clear assertion that the crisis is systemic. The lack of classrooms, poor ventilation, and inadequate services are products of long-standing budget cuts and state abandonment. The heat crisis only exposes what students have long endured.
We assert that education must be adequately funded and that safe, climate-resilient, and student-centered learning spaces are not privileges but rights. The administration must act decisively and urgently. The government must be held accountable for the continued neglect of the university.
The Assembly will immediately update the student body on the universityโs response.

SENSING FORM: Monitoring Student Wellbeing Amid Extreme Heat | PUP ITECH SC
In compliance with Executive Order No. 12, Series of 2025, PUP will transition to mandatory online synchronous sessions whenever PAGASA records a heat index within the "Danger" zone (42ยฐC to 51ยฐC). This proactive policy prioritizes the safety of the entire academic community, as prolonged exposure to such temperatures increases the risk of heat-related illnesses like exhaustion and heat stroke.
What is the purpose of this form?
The sensing form is designed to evaluate the impact of the shift to online learning during these extreme weather events. We want to hear your perspective on the implementation of EO No. 12 and how it affects your academic routine.
What are we assessing?
- Your current learning environment and physical health.
- Availability of necessary devices and stable internet access.
- Overall preparedness for sudden shifts to remote learning.
Your honest feedback is crucial in identifying potential hurdles and helping the administration refine its support strategies. We aim to keep this policy practical and inclusive for every Teknolohista.

All gathered data will be handled with strict confidentiality and used exclusively to advocate for student welfare.

Down with US Imperialism! Struggle for National Democracy!
