ADVISORY
Please be informed that recent air quality monitoring in Manila indicates increased air pollution levels associated with the ongoing fire incident at the Navotas Sanitary Landfill. This pollution contains small particulate matter (PM2.5) that can enter the lungs and cause respiratory irritation, especially among vulnerable groups such as elderlies, children, infants, pregnant women, and individuals with pre-existing heart or lung conditions.
The public is advised to wear N95 or KN95 masks when outdoors. If unavailable, double surgical masks or a clean, damp cloth may be used as temporary alternatives. Limit outdoor activities and stay indoors whenever possible. Keep doors and windows closed and seal gaps with damp cloths.
Stay hydrated and ensure that medications for respiratory conditions are readily available. Seek immediate medical attention for any signs of breathing difficulty or related symptoms.
The University of the Philippines Manila strongly encourages all students, faculty, and employees to adhere to these precautions to reduce health risks associated with poor air quality.
