Diplomacy in Action: U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Team visits Ilocos Norte
From February 18–20, the U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy (PD) team conducted a meaningful three-day visit to Batac, Ilocos Norte to engage with partners at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). Led by Ryan Ingrassia, Director for Public Engagement, the PD team carried out a productive inspection of MMSU-American Corner Batac, ensuring it remains a premier hub for innovation, engagement and learning.
As part of programming, Mr. Ingrassia led the "Chat with a Diplomat" session, where MMSU sociology students learned basic facts about the American Foreign Service and explored the complexities of global diplomacy and negotiation through an interactive diplomacy simulation group activity.
The PD team also connected with dedicated AC volunteers to learn about their significant accomplishments and met with Fulbright Philippines alumni in Ilocos Norte, honoring their continued contributions to the community. By weaving together local engagement and the spirit of Freedom 250, the visit underscored American Spaces Philippines commitment to empowering Ilocano leaders through education and cultural exchange. 🇺🇸🤝🏻🇵🇭
