The true essence of the widely-popular elective course was clearly captured and masterfully articulated by Christa De La Cruz, a former DLSU Chemistry major and current associate editor at Esquire Philippines. "I used to separate these two aspects of my life—chem and writing—but now here we are.", she said. The universe indeed unravels in mysterious but fascinating ways.

On March 10, 2025, Gourmet Farms Coffee Lab headed by Dr. Emmanuel Garcia welcomed a delegation including Dr. Kathleen Aviso, Dean of the Gokongwei College of Engineering, former Student Affairs Dean Dr. Christine Ballada, and Center Directors Dr. Angelyn Lao (CENSER) and Dr. Joel Ilao (ADRIC). The visit was further distinguished by the presence of Balik Scientists Dr. Greg Foliente from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Lawrence David from Duke University, and Visiting Professor Dr. Seunghun J. Lee from The International Christian University.

Dr. Mel Garcia of the La Salle Food and Water Institute and Department of Chemistry, and Mr. Vince Santos of Gourmet Farms, Inc., recently joined coffee nerds from all over the world at the first-ever Decent Espresso Conference in Hong Kong. Dr. Garcia presented updates and the role of the DE1 machine on the emerging coffee academic programs in the Philippines, while Mr. Santos shared amazing coffee from award-winning Filipino farmer Dione Ellaga.
